How did everyone do on Halloween???

I survived!! I am proud to say I have not eaten a single bit of candy in the past few weeks. Yay, me!!

I must say in my 5 years post-op, I do go in phases. There are times when I want to eat everything in sight and other times where food does not interest me, like now. One think that I believe helped me stop the cravings was eliminating artificial sweeteners. I do still use them on a rare occasion, but overall I'd say I've eliminated 95% of the time.

I think I will give my kids a few days to eat their candy then bring the rest to school to give to my students.

OMG you and your girls are SO beautiful! Such a wonderful family you have!!

I did fine for Halloween. I was off all day with my Dad at the hospital (he had a short outpatient surgery) and then decided NOT to go to the store to buy candy to give out last night. I knew that since I had been up since 3AM and super tired, that I was going to be in a more vulnerable place and not caring about what I ate! So, I decided to avoid it altogether!

Congrats on doing well too!

Awe, thanks. I hope your dad is doing well.

Sounds like you had a good plan for Halloween. Now we must get ready for the big holiday season where food is everywhere!! lol

Laura, first I have to tell you that you and your daughters are so adorable! :-)  That's great that you survived yesterday candy-free!

I am so happy and amazed that I survived as well. I was surrounded by an obscene amount of candy, cupcakes, cake, and other sugary snacks at work. I am so grateful that nothing was calling to me. We did give out candy at our house but I made sure to buy all non-chocolate candy. Fortunately, skittles, lollipops, starburst, gummy candies, etc have never been tempting to me. We managed to give it all away so no candy was in the house. I don't have any children so I don't have to deal with temptation from more candy.

I'm just so grateful for my RNY and my new life. I've been sugar free now for over a year, and life is so amazing without the sugar addiction ruling my life. I know the sugar demons may try to rear their ugly heads in the future. But for now, I'm just so grateful.

Hope you all are doing well and have a great weekend!

Kim

Thanks!! I think my kids are the cutest things ever and I can say that without sounding too conceited because they do not share my DNA...lol.

Good for you!! You are such a success story!! And yeah, avoiding the sugar all together is the best plan. When I eat it I want more of it so I avoid it, too.

Have a great weekend, yourself!

Awesome job, Laura! You deserve to be an AW for that. ;-)

I've also tried to cut out artificial sweetners but it's hard because they are in a ton of stuff!

I did good these past few days and been back on plan for a few days now. Lost 3 pounds over the last 3 days so I'm happy with that and Halloween didn't derail me!

Thanks!!

Good for you on the loss!! Keep at it!!

It definitely is hard to limit artificial sweetener, but I know for me it made a difference. I am in another group on another site and there are a lot of whiners there who have had regain or never got to goal. I try to suggest they they at least try to limit them, but then they turn rude and tell me artificial sweeteners do not affect them. Well allrighty then. Nevermind!!

Pretty good. I ate one cookie and factored it in to my daily macros.

I fight badgers with spoons.
