My Introduction!
welcome to the start of your journey
it may seem like it takes a long time till you have surgery , 6+ months is normal unless your ether self pay or go to Mexico
it is best if you can bring someone with you when you go see the surgeon , and bring a list of questions and a paper and pen to write down what you are told
you will probably get a book with instructions , and may have to take a drug test and you may be sent for blood work and a bunch of tests
make shore your surgeon has a support group there very important
It is very important to exercise, , I joined a gym and swim or do aqua aerobics 6 day/week
it is also important to start measuring your food and tracking it , myfitnesspal.com is very useful < my surgeon put me on a 1200 cal diet for 6 months
I had a vsg (sleeve) at the end of July and have lost 40 lb since then
I eat 500-700 cal a day 80 gm protein 65 oz liquid
you should start drinking the water now , and stop drinking with meals
you should stop drinking caffeine, you will not be allowed any at first after your surgery
and stop smoking if you do , it will give you an ulcer after surgery
limit or stop all alcohol it is wasted cal and bad for your new stomach till it heals ( 6 months or more )
I first seen my surgeon on Oct 31 last year
go to your surgeons support group and talk to other people that are going through the process or had there surgery , you will learn a lot

Howdy from Austin :) This group has been a HUGE motivator for me. It has helped me keep my head on straight. Just avoid the drama :) xoxo

Give a bunch of people (mostly women, LOL) a keyboard, trying to lose weight, hungry, cranky... it's standard message forum stuff. I was mostly kidding though (and above too, folks, I love you guys, you know that) :) xoxo

Welcome, Q! Love that. :)
I was nervous about my first consult, too, but I charged in there and have never looked back.
Looking forward to the time when you are posting your SVs and your NSVs and helping newbies along when you're, uh, an oldbie or whatever we are. :)
