Cannot stop crying. I don't know what to do anymore. I cannot remember the last time I felt like this. I know I go myself in this position and I know, I cannot blame anybody but myself but WHY is this process taking so long??? When i'm finally mentally and medically ready for this, but noooo my stupid doctors office wants to see me in TWO months for a 'follow up'. Im usually patient, but im crawling the walls today :(

All I can say is, I understand.

I keep telling myself that anything worth having is worth fighting for.  We have to believe that we are worth it.  We are.

Trust me when I say it's worth it and it helps to gear up for this journey. I know it's disappointing. When I decided I was ready I wanted surgery right then. I went for my first appointment in may and had surgery 4 months later. Remember it's all about the daily victories. Why not start now?

Why two months? Is it an insurance requirement?

took me 10 months to get my surgery , 6 month insurance requirement then I didn't lose the 12% weight the surgeon wanted ( took 2 weeks extra) then had to wait for the endoscope and the 2 classes 1 week apart , then I was ready for surgery and 3 days before I get a skin infection and had to wait an other month

but now I stick to my plan  I am never hungry and loosing quickly

the long process helps get you ready for the rest of your life , I think the surgeons and insurance companies use it as a test to make shore you can do this

just relax your time will soon be here a few month are meaningless in the long run  , Im shore you will do great

It is so worth it, and so are you.  Do NOT give up!

I ended up with my own two-month prolongation when my insurer insisted I have three preop nutrition appointments spaced 30 days apart.  That was after jumping through all of the testing hoops and then doing the other educational elements of the process (which have proven to be well worth the time and effort!).  That two-month lag definitely ticked me off, but I did what I had to do, and my surgery proceeded on schedule.

There are things you can do NOW to get yourself into better shape for your surgery day.  If you haven't already, start limiting your intake of some foods, start hydrating your body well, eat more dense, lean protein, and try to get some exercise, even if it's only for 5 minutes at a time.  I'm not talking radical life change if you can't handle that currently, but everything you do preop in a positive direction helps make you a better patient for your surgeon when it's your turn on that OR table.

Try to make good use of this imposed waiting time!  Take this energy you are putting into frustration and turn it loose on planning and executing some positive actions for your health and well-being.

Yes, you are soooo worth it, hon.  :)  :)

Please know that all through this process it will call for the ultimate of patience and you will be tested all along the way. What seems like eternity and begins to look like a losing battle will only make you stronger for it! Never give up, just know that it will be so worth it and you will hold even closer to you your victories and know that you own them!
Hang in there, years of doing will not be overnight of undoing!

Patience and keep coming here! We understand and are with you here!

hugs

I know how frustrating it can be to have to wait for surgery.  When I went in the door, I wanted surgery immediately.  It took me 3 1/2 months to meet all the requirements.  My surgeon required that I lose 50 pounds before surgery because he needed room to do the laparoscopic procedure.  My nutritionist told me I should be eating a diet that was "like the post surgery diet".    I should limit myself to three meals a day (and have only high protein snacks, if I must).  the meal consisted of 3-4 ounces of protein, lots on healthy (low carb) veggies and 1/2 cup of starch.  I skipped the starch because I knew that carbs trigger cravings for me, so I stuck to protein and healthy veggies.  I lost 15 to 20 pounds per month, and lost the 50 pounds in three months.  I had surgery at 3 months, and 2 weeks after starting the process.

It really feels great to lose weight before surgery.  You can start your weight loss journey now.  Even if you have to wait for the surgery.

I just notice that my starting weight was the same as yours!  I started the process last January, and had surgery last May.  I've lost 125 pounds in 7 months. I currently weight 257!   So keep your vision on the big picture.  A year from now you will be so much healthier,  so much more mobile.  Someone once said "its a marathon, not a sprint."  So take joy in the process - its a life-long commitment.

best wishes,

Carol

jump through the necessary hoops.   the weeks and months will fly by, and before you know it you'll be 6 months postop wondering where in heck the time all went.  Believe me, we have all been dealt our delays.  Just hang in there and go with the flow.  Either you jump through their damn hoops for 2 or 6 months or whatever it is and come out with the surgery you want, or you will let the 2 or 6 months go by and give up and ... stay 388 pounds forever, or at least until 400 comes along, and you know it will...

I totally understand, I am currently working my way through the process!. I got insurance approval, but am having trouble getting the proper paper work from the human resources department at work! I keep saying to myself, just keep your eye on the prize.  It will all be worth it in the end. Hang in there girl!  I know you can do it!
