What is my body doing...

So, this is prob going to be tmi in a few areas but bear with me please.

Ok, my surg...band to sleevee was April 10, 2013.  As i post each week, I sleeved at 350lbs.  I stalled I think around the 3/4 week mark for a good 8 days, on the 9th i lost and the scale has been going down ever since.  Yes very fortunate.  Ive hardly exercised but maybe once a week or average of twice a week.

Back track...I hadnt had my period since July 2012.  After my Dr ran all my hormone levels etc. it was determined i was not in menopause or even peri menopause. Im 48 now.  I figured it was the up and down of my weight as my band was done working after 10 yrs.  So, low and behold, come July 2013 and my period comes.  I figure fluke.  August and it came again.  My theory of weight involvement was correct.  However, now that ive got it back again and its a normal period, i also have some intermittant spotting.  Ive never had that.  Is that age?

Hmm, again, potty talk...ive not had but 3 bm's on my own since surgery.  Dulc supp are my friends.  Im going to talk to my surgeons partner next month for my 6 mos appt as my surgeon was deployed to the front lines in Afganistan in July.  Its frustrating at best that i cant dependd on my own body.  Miralax doesnt work for me.  I use stool softners and all they both do is give me gas...attractive huh???

My husband and I worked out twice last week and I thought id see a 3-4lb loss as 3 is my norm.  I saw today, 3/4 of a pound.  I do suppository on Sunday nights so all is clear for a precise weight.  I know i havent gotten in a lot of my protein this week but my fluid consumption was up from norm and moving around, doing things etc. was up as well.  I have stayed completely on plan.   I did have some peanut butter, lf jiff, Sat. about 3 tsp.  About an hour later i was nauseated as all get out, a bit sweaty and anxious.  In that same hour i had the runs for a bit.  Ok, lesson learned, my body isw not ready to pb.  I will add it to the list along with beef, shrimp, eggs.  Is my body getting ready to hit a stall or is the lack of protein/food doing this?  I just havent been hungry but started back with protein shake today, will have some cottage cheese and some turkey prob today and end the night with half a protein shake.  I just hate forcing myself to eat when im not hungry.

My body just feels off and im not sure whats up.  Any thoughts are def appreciated.

do you eat any veggies , lack of fiber will make you constipated also very low fat will,

as you lose weight you burn fat releasing hormones  stored in the fat which can turn on your periods and the spoting, best to check with your ob/gyn to check that there are no problems but many women have there periods come back after there sleeve surgery

make shore you are getting enough vit d and calcium

best to talk to your nut to see if your diet is effecting your constipation or see a gastroenteritis, have one recommended by your surgeon

my periods have been crazy since my surgery (a few weeks before yours).

what has me scratching my head is.... why after almost 6 months out, have you still not started eating beef, shrimp, and eggs?  I'm eating everything under the sun with no problem.  i rarely feel physical hunger as well, but that's where eating to live comes in (versus the old 'living to eat.')   and that's where protein drinks come in if you're absolutely not wanting to ingest solids, grab a drink and go.

My periods got whacky after surgery - stil whacky now.

As for the BMs, I sure hope your doctors and surgeon know about the problem and they know you have are using sups to have a BM. With BM issues of my own, I hope you are working with a Gi doc to figure out what's going on because that's pretty bad, and you should try and find a solution than supp dependence. I had been constipated for 2 years until I got serious and aggresive with the miralax. I had to drink 3 bottles of mag citrate to get unblocked, and I have to take 2-4 doses of mirarax a day to have regular BMs. I didnt have a choice after getting a serious anal fissure. My body doesnt like to work on its own and at some point, I will do a colonoscopy (my GI doc doesnt want me doing it while I battle back problems).

As for the WL - words of wisdom - if you are EVER expecting your body to drop x number of lbs - YOU WILL NOT LOSE WEIGHT. Its some kind of screwed up law pf physics or something they didnt teach me in school. I used to have a numerical deficit to justify a 3-4 lbs loss and it wouldnt happen. There is a conspiracy by our bodies - some kind of mental torture fr our long lasting physicall abuse. Hahah. However, whenyou are least expecting to lose weight, thats when it will happen. I think there is some truth the science that says stress (ie more hormones!) can stall weight loss. Relax, follow your plan regardless of you expectations of weight loss and the weight wil come off.

I have had to fight and fight and fight to get my doctors to figure out what is going on with me because I didnt feel right and still dont for almost a year now - its been difficult but im making progress. You know your body. If something isnt right. push for answers.

Keep up the excellent work From what it sounds like you are kicking butt :)

Thank you everyone for your replies.  I'll answer best I can.

Gyn...my next appt. I'm guessing its weightloss and age tho most of the time i think im 27:-).

My new belly doesnt appreciate meat, eggs, shrimp etc.   It took it 9 weeks to handle protein shakes with lactaid free milk without major nausea.  I now can use unsw almond milk.  When i hit 5 mos next week i'll re try eggs and maybe small shrimp.  Im not a big meat eater but occasionally my body craves steak.  I hate being nauseated so maybe i'll save the meat for 6 mos.

Veggies...I love them. However, they do nothing for the bowel issues.  I cant eat enough of them to work.  I started eating green beans for snack and I can handle mixed veggies.  Broccoli and cauliflour didnt agree pre sleeve so im afraid to try them.  If i use spaghetti sauce i buy chunky veg.  That doesnt seem to bother.  Im at 1.5-3oz depending on what im eating.  Most things are around 2-2.4 so veggies have to be snacks.  Ive tried the Miralax and honestly all it does is make suppository sunday easier. My body just doesnt seem to want to go...something isnt working right or its not enough food(?) or fat in my diet.  Im thinking this happened when I was first banded and took a while to work right.  Im not sure.  I'm going to do the miralax this week.  My surgeon did speak with the others in his practice before he was deployed and they all recommended a bm clinic.  I may end up making an appt with them.  I just think its kinda odd the peanut butter made me go but coupled with the nausea i think iit was some kind of dumping.  Even onions dont produce any effect.

Thank you!  Im happy with the weightloss.  I have been stressing about it...numbers oooh the numbers!!!!!  I think seeing as i have no pants lol i best think on that.  I follow my plan to the letter other than most days I dont eat enough.  Whoever said eat to live is right...I need that reminder.
