After 6 months postop.... does it really trickle off, even with us BMI 50+ ??

I find that hard to believe.  Maybe people who have surgery 100 pounds before us trickle off after 6 months because they're already in onederland or close to goal.  Could that be ?  Next week I'll be 5 months postop and still technically 130 lbs overweight.  Shouldnt the loss for me continue until I'm closer to the line?    i'm not stressing, just curious about this theory because even my surgeon said "its a lot harder after 6 months."  why?  i should've asked "why" but i suppose i wasnt worried at that point since 6 months seemed "so far away" at that time.

thanks in advance for any opinions, etc.

OMG i read your post wrong....im sorry! 6 mos is not the window of opp...its supposedly 18-24 mos. I think after 6 mos its more of dealing with our heads, people adding carbs/junk in...mayb getting lax.

Ill leave this to vets...sorry about misunderstanding.

My loss slowed after the first 100 pounds, but I am still losing at 22 months. It has not been any harder-just slower.

you really did great.  the decrease in monthly loss goes hand-in-hand with your body size at that very time.  fantastic.  Thanks for taking the time to share all of that.

It does tend to slow down, but my losses were about 20 pounds per month the first year-or at least close to that amount. Now that I am 18 months out, it's more like 4 pounds per month. Surgery day I was 438 & today I am 259. It is much harder now & sometimes the scale even goes up a pound, and then down a pound, and then up a pound LOL But eventually it evens out and the loss comes-even if it's small. But I will take it :) I have been working out religiously for the past 6 weeks and noticed that is has gone even slower, strangely. But, everyone keeps saying I am building muscle so hopefully that is why the scale keeps taunting me. It hasn't stopped, but it sure has slowed down.

Thank you posting this! I have been having trouble for the past six months and have lost nothing. If anything, I have gained 10 lbs from my lowest since surgery. I am battling w/ blood sugar issues but I exercise regularly but can't seem to get any lower.

Oh well, Ihave lost over 150 since surgery and over 200 since my highest but I am determined to keep going. Thanks for posting this; it lets me know I'm not the only one. I will be two years out on 9/20.

I'm about to hit the six month mark. Things have gotten a little slower every month as I have more 700-800 calorie days and fewer 500-600 calorie days. I'm about to close out month five, and I will probably have lost about 13 pounds this month. I'm terrified of the loss stopping, but there's nothing to do but keep at it. I want to lose at least another 60 pounds, but I expect it will take me longer to lose that than it has been taking up to this point. I'm going to keep working my plan and continue to up my exercise. Good luck!

For me I did slow down at 6 months. Now at 1+ year It is not moving. I upped my calories to 900 per day to accommodate heavy exercise. I eat low carb and run 3 miles 4x a week.

I visit my NUT today and I hope she has some answers for me. I still have 70-80 for a normal BMI and 50 for my personal goal.

I have lost 2-4 Lbs a month since 6 months out but 0 in the last 2 months.
