Wednesday morning I went into be sleeved. I was the told the surgery was a total success and everything went perfectly. Yay. I got to go home late Thursday evening. I had a lot of gas, but was assured that was normal.

Fast forward slightly to Thursday night and I'm up every couple of hours with horrible crampy gas that just will NOT move, and dry heaves. I called my surgeon on Friday morning and they said to come back to the ER so they could look at me before I became dangerously dehydrated.

Friday afternoon, and one CT scan later, I'm admitted again with what my surgeon has called a paralytic ileus. Apparently, with abdominal surgery and narcotics, sometimes the lower bowel can just stop working altogether. This was my problem. I was given a suppository in the ER (ew) and that worked pretty quickly. I was readmitted for overnight observation with nothing allowed by mouth.

By today (Saturday) I felt 100% better and was allowed some full liquids. I was also taken off all narcotics and given liquid ibuprofen.

Now I"m home and I can focus on just staying hydrated and maybe getting in some more full liquids today. Also, while my surgeon wasn't physically around during this, he had two of his residents checking in on my regularly and at one point this afternoon called me on the phone to see how I was feeling. I really liked that a lot. :)
