walking and back pain
Cyndi Thank you so much you give me hope I have a long road ahead of weight management before I can have surgery So I want to do as much as I can before I do have surgery to make it easier! you inspire me to do better and I know I can do it you have to be a strong person to carry around as much weight as I do :)
Hi Sarah,
The dilemma you are experiencing is what caused me to finally cave and have the surgery. I knew it was my body telling me it was suffering from my immense weight.I barely could get into the food store and shop and make it while i waited to check out. I'd hobble to the car and practically pass out from the pain in my back.
I wish I would have gone to water aerobics then instead of waiting until after surgery. The class is filled with super-obese people who feel positively skinny in the water. It is great exercise and will help you drop the weight.
Good luck!
Sharon
Hi Sarah,
I was almost 385 pounds at my highest and walking was uncomfortable for me. At a friends recommendation, I tried using a recumbent stationary bike, and I love it. Its comfortable to sit in, and my leg muscles do all the work (they are strong from carrying me around! (smile). Perhaps you could try one at a gym and see what you think. I I bought mine at Costco and it was not-too-expenive. I have it set up in my family room where I can watch tv while exercising.
I like having an exercise that is not subject to weather, and where I don't have to go anywhere to do it. I can exercise for 2 minutes or 30, with little overhead. It really works for me.
I hope you find something that works for you. Exercise stimulates the metabolism, too, helping weight loss.
Best wishes,
Carol
