Large amt of wt loss ?...
Through the process you are working with your Doctor Your Nut and any of the other professionals. Do what they say follow your program and you will lose. I did everything they told me to. I ate what was on the list. I went from liquids to purees to solids as my plan called for. And if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask. That is what they are there for.
Good Luck
Im a heavy wt. I think is why i have lost that much in 5 months. the bigger you are the faster it comes off . I follow more what i have learned here than what my nut says she says 1000 cal a day. I only do 600-800 cal a day and most days closer to 600 I use a daily log. get my water in and I don't do protein shakes I eat mainly protein so i can get my 70 grams in each day. i hate the shakes after surgery I just can not make myself drink them. I myself have learned more on OH than anywhere.
Well, I'm a little slower. I'm still in losing mode (well, kind of, I consider this within my maintenance range but I haven't seen the magical 150 yet). You can see my monthly and weekly numbers on my profile. I don't think it's too horrible :)
I do 600-800 calories per day, try to stay under 50 carbs. I do take sanity breaks and up it to 1000-1200 now and then for a week or two. Usually tosses me into maintenance, but those are usually times that are tough in therapy or that I just need a break from it all.
I drink a TON of water. I can't exercise right now and have spent the past year probably not really doing much. I first had an emergency neck fusion and am now looking at a double lumbar fusion.
Just follow your doctor's plans and do what you can. Everyone loses at their own pace. It won't melt off of everyone. Some folks have to work for it and I suspect most people do. Others are just lucky *****es ;)

For me, it was about becoming label reading and calorie aware. I follow a far more liberal plan than most on here and don't do a strict low carb plan (I get really dizzy and woozy without a decent amount of carbs), so my absolute focus is calories.
I eat 600-800 a day in 3 meals. I aim for 200-250 calories per meal and that's about as scientific as I get.
For me, this surgery was about absolute portion control and I got exactly what I needed. I wasn't a snacker, or really bad eater before surgery, I simply ate WAY too much.
I now just eat tiny little portions of a good balance of foods and that works perfectly for me
Hi Tia,
I have lost 120 lbs and need to lose about 50 more.I lost the majority in the first 6 months. Now i lose a few pounds a month, which is fine with me.
The only "trick" is to stay away from carbs and drink lots of water. For me, personally, the secret has been exercise. It has been the one constant that has kept me in check. You have to find something that you love. When you do, the exercise becomes a big part of your life. The muscle gain helps with the weight loss and your strength.
A year ago I was a couch potato with no desire to move or do anything. Now I consider myself a strong athlete. The exercise gives me a confidence that even the weight loss never gave me.
Good Luck!

I understand what you mean. I have lost 80 lbs since surgery, and I lost 51 lbs before surgery. So total I have lost 137 lbs. I just wonder if it should be more. I had the VSG on 10/23/12. I am not complaining because I have NEVER lost this amount of weight, nor had i kept it off. My starting weight was 519, and I am now 382, but it keeps fluxuating due to water retrention, and everything.
