Liquid diet pre op
So I am a pre op patient for the vsg it has been a long time and my approvals are running out, many things in life have happened which brings up 2 questions.
1 Has anyone done the liquid diet prior to surgery the week before or a few days before, I am wondering what it consists of?
2 I am struggling getting the required 10 percent off anyone else had that problem?
Are you in your liquid diet already, I am guessing not? Usually it is more than a few days or 1 week. Your doctor should have gone over this with you. Are you following a diet to lose the 10 percent? Are you able to get movement/exercise in some form. The equation of calories eaten and calories burned is something important to know for after surgery to. The further you go out from surgery once you have had it, the more important it is. But for losing prior to surgery it is important to. 1000 to 1200 calorie diet is what I did prior to surgery to lose 110 lbs. I pedaled a pedal of stationary bike that sat on my bed, as I was pretty much bed ridden. But really getting more movement than your normal day is a great way to start.
How determined and how much do you want this? Also, how much have you thought about what you will need to do after surgery. This will be life long in order for long term success with your surgery.
Your post is vague but keep posting and maybe you will find more answers. Keep reading other posts that are older, there may be answers there.
Hugs
my surgeon required a full liquid diet for four days before surgery. Full liquids is cottage cheese, sugar free pudding, broth, jello, etc. cream soups without meat. i forget what else. 4 days are long enough, some surgeons ask for you to do that for 2 weeks before surgery.
I was required to lose 5% of my weight, which would have been 19 lbs. I really struggled for 3 months, i thought it was going to be simple. I did Slim Fast and a small meal each day for 4 weeks and lost 2 lbs. I was so angry and basically gave up at that point. Once all my requirements were fulfilled, I went in for another (final preop) visit with my surgeon, she saw i lost 5 lbs, and she only said "I'll take it." and she scheduled my surgery for about 2 weeks later. Once all your requirements are fullfilled, call your surgeon's office and let them know all your visits are done and the only thing holding you up is your struggle to get off the XX lbs. They may well say to just come on in anyway. After all, they do want their $$$$$. ;)
I had to lose nearly 40 lbs because my surgeon wanted me to be under a bmi of 60 on the day of surgery. You can do it as well. Just keep focused on what you want and how important it is to get there.
Just wanted to echo all that is above and offer my support. Everything happens like it should. ((HUGS))
