Opinions on goal weight

Hey guys! First I want Ito say how much I appreciate this board. The support is overwhelming.
My doctor set a lifetime goal weight at 170. Optimal weight for excess weight percenyes is 147 (Which would make my total weight loss 193 pounds.
How realistic is this optimal weight for someone starting at 340? I know Laura hard ha great success. Should I be happy at 170, 10 attainable pounds away or really try to push for 147.
I mean, it's like I'm looking at another person right now t 180. I wear size 12/14. It is unreal.
Thanks!:)
I have given this a lot of thought and come to the conclusion that I want to focus on getting to a healthy body fat percentage. I had my body fat tested via Bod Pod in August. It was 36% then, which is too high. But one telling thing I learned is that my bones, muscle, and water weigh about 141 pounds. I think it is important to look at our weight and have a good idea how much is fat, etc. Then we can work toward
decreasing fat instead of just working for a lower scale number.
I think your goal of 170 is very obtainable. 147 may be as well but you may have to work very hard to stay there.
My surgeon estimated my ideal body weight as 134 for me at 5'4" with a medium fram. I think that might be a bit low for me since I still have a very large bust and really muscular legs.

You sort of have to see how you feel when you get to 170, I think - if you have to make unsustainable changes in diet & exercise to get to 147, then you won't stay there for long - what's going to make you happier? Maintaining at 170 or losing to 147 & regaining a bit?
I agree with this. Sometimes our bodies fight us when we try to get too low.
When you get there, see what it feels like and how much effort it takes to stay there. Honestly, I would love to weigh 10 pounds less, but I lose it from my face which makes me look older, plus I like to eat and do not have to stress about every bite that goes into my mouth where I am right now.

if you are healthy and feel good at 170 thats great if you are able to lose more and want to as long as the doctor thinks it is safe to do go for it , just keep in mind that you have already succeeded , its like extra credit you don't need it but its good if you can do it
as long as you healthy and happy all is good
