Plastic Surgery---I want to be Frankenbarbie!
Hi Peeps,
Well, it has seeped into my reality that plastic surgery is in my future. When I started this journey I never even considered it. I felt like I would just lose the weight and live with the body that was under all the fat regardless of what it looked like. But the longer I run this course, I see what I can and cannot live with. The reality is; I have these hard muscles underneath my sagging skin and even though I can feel them, I will never see them. After working out so hard, I need to see them desperately.
I know now i will go down to my initial goal and then start looking for a plastic surgeon. I want to have a tummy tuck, leg lift and boob lift. Later perhaps a butt lift and neck lift. I am not a vain woman, but I look in the mirror and look terrible naked. My legs are the worst and my apron stomach that hangs to my upper thighs is a close second.
Let's face it, I am 55 years old and it is not going to snap back. I would not care if I looked 55 naked, but i look 80 and I cannot live with that. This summer I will have to wear compression shorts on the beach. My legs are so thin now, but the sagging skin is so ugly. I just cannot wear a regular bathing suit or even short shorts over a suit to look presentable. I did not work this hard to look hideous i public.
Unfortunately, reality dictates a miracle in my case. I have been out of work for 9 months and we cannot pay the going rate for all the surgery, so I am going to look into Mexico for the possibility of having it there. My husband is not on board with Mexico, But I am hoping to get enough substantial supporting referrals to change his mind. Has anyone else gone this route? One of my worries is aftercare should things not go smoothly. Another thing I worry about it not speaking Spanish.
I've been checking out the plastic surgery forum on OH and it isn't very robust. Does anyone else have a suggestion about websites they visit?
Can anyone be real about the costs they have had for plastic surgery? I find I am not able to get a real answer about the costs involved. If you are shy about putting it out there in the forum publicly, please message me privately. Also, care-credit or charging credit cards is not an option for me. We are on a tight budget and I am going to have to save for this.
Thanks for all your help in this matter.
Hugs,
Sharon
There are quite a few folks on the RnY board who have gone to Dr. Sauceda in Mexico. He has a very good reputation and apparently his English is good.
I haven't even broached going to him with my DH, but I have a feeling DH will be more amenable when he sees the cost savings to be had versus the cost of plastics here in the States. I plan on getting my breasts lifted and possibly something done about my stomach. I ended up with a small pannus, but it still is floppy. Arm surgery is scary for some reason to me so I think I will just live with the bat wings. I too will need to save for plastics, probably for a couple of years.
I fight badgers with spoons.

I had to have plastic surgery for my mental health. There was no way around it. I finally feel "whole" again.
I was going to go to Saucedo, but had a bit of good fortune and stayed here. Don't sell yourself short!! At 55 you can still look great. I'm 46 and think I look pretty darn good, especially after losing 200 pounds. A great surgeon can work wonders. I've had my arms done and a lbl/bl. If I ever win the lottery, I will get a thigh lift and breast implants, but honestly I am content "as-is".
Here is a before/after lbl/bl pic of me:

Thanks. I'm in Houston. Wainwright did my arms in 2009, as soon as I got to goal, and LoMonaco did my lower body lift/breast lift in 2011.

I was curious, are the scars on your arms still noticeable now or did they fade enough to where you can't really see the line unless you look closely?
Amazing!

My arms scars are not the best. My first surgeon did not leave the stitches in like my second surgeon. They were removed at day 10 and the scars immediately widened. I do love the shape of my arms and the scars do not really bother me. If I ever decide to get implants, I will have my surgeon revise my arm scars.
