Is there a fourm that is dedicated to us folks who have regained, and exprincing a more then slow wl. I am here to tell you, trying to lose again is really hard!!
I am almost six yrs. out. Battling a wt. gain of 25lbs. from my LW. and need to lose addtional lbs. as well. A total of 60lbs. I am starting all over again. Why is it so hard, this go around. The honeymoon is way over!! I know it can be done with commitment and pateince. It's not going to happen as before, and accetpting that reality is the hard part too.
To what extremes do we go? liquid diet, diet pills, fat burners?? low carbs, measured foods?? I do need to get back with a wt. management, my doc. left the area. This forum is for people like me, for when the honeymoon faze is over and out. People who are a certain amount of yrs. post.op. 3 and up, some people are able to maintain, and some still struggle like before wls. A lot of friends here are so new to the journey. Us oldies can relate, because we were there too, at one point, but now it's so different. 5yrs. or so out. I know we can all relate, but exprincing wt. gain, and trying to get back to basics is so challanging. We have learned all to easily what we can handle and tolerate, vs. the very beginning. Being so far out is easier to consume way too much, which in turn leads to the wt. gain, and the battle of the buldge starts all over again. ( sorry if wrds. are spelled wrong). but hopefully you all understand.
There's a few of us here that are a little further out and struggling - I am definitely one of them. But, generally, the forums dont have a lot of people in our shoes because they leave teh forums and stop posting.

It does suck to have to try and get the weight off once we can eat more and have a lot to deal with but ive seen others do it, and I just have to keep some faith that I can do it. You aren't starting over though - youve lost the weight and kept most of it off - think back to those WL days and try and remember what you did to do that.

Just some thoughts

- you dont need to go to the extremes - you can, but just realize it may lead to the yo-yo dieting that plagued us before WLS

- identify your weakest spots right now - is is liquid calories, grazing, night eating, unhealthy choices? Make a plan to deal with that (baby steps, one at a time)

- track your calories - weigh and measure everything for awareness and accountability

- prepare your food/meals or at least know what you are going to cook/eat in advance so you dont have to make choices when youre sttressed. Bringing my food to work with me is absolutely critical otherwise id end up eating out way too much or making poor choices.

In the long run, this really is a life style change. Its better to embrace the small steps rather than just go crazy and go into diet mode because that doesnt help buld the foundation we need. But if youre like me, and just need to get control, and kill the carb monster, a liqud diet works nicely.
