Awesome! That's what I had to do too.  The strict low carb thing works at first but I feel like our bodies get way too used to it.  I have those ketosis sticks that you can test the levels of ketones in your urine and its always dark purple which means I am in ketosis but I was not really seeing it on the scale.  Playing around with my food intake and exercise definitely helped!

How much did you weight when you started this process?

My highest was 363 at consult. I was 350 before I started my 10 day pre-op diet. I went into surgery at 340.

You got your surgery on feb 6th right? So if we take that as being a month ago you were 340, today you are 314. A drop of 26 pounds in a month right? Seems excellent to me, not to you???

I guess I've just seen too many people on here lose 30 or even 40 in the first month. It's so hard not to compare! But, yes, 26 in a month is way better than I ever did on my own, even if last week was very disappointing.

We are in this for a lot more than a week. My best advice, and I am also giving it to myself regularly, is to look at the BIG PICTURE! Not only last week, but last month. And if last month sucked than look at the two last months!!!!

As per comparing ourselves, we know we shouldn't do it but we all do it! So why don't you look at worse than you? Visit the forum for the slow losers. Will put things in perspective!

It took me 3 weeks to lose .9 lbs. AGH!!!! I know I shouldn't freak but it seems as though my body just doesn't want to leave the 300 lb area. I have been so good with realizing my body just needs to rest for a while occasionally before dropping more weight but it's hard to relax. And I have a hard time staying off the scale, which doesn't help matters. I have my 4 month checkup next Monday and so want to be in the 280's when I get there. And this weekend I had a small emotional surge over my falling out hair  but my sweet husband gave me his shoulder to cry on, thank goodness! I am 4 months out, is it normal to still have those crazy depressing hormonal fluctuations on occasion???  Ok, I got my game face on now, time to beast this week!

One thing that was sure hard on me was to set myself a goal pound in a goal time! So I stopped right away the time goal. It doesn't really matter how long you take to reach the line, as long as you reach it! Your 280 will come soon. I used to get so discouraged of counting how much I had lost, how much I had still to lose, but worstly, how long it took vs how long it would take to lose what was left to lose. Those "crazy calculatings" are still in my head but when they come to the surface, I send them away again. It's mandatory for my sanity!

Hormones, if you read my last post about easy wls, you'll see I still get hit badly, even after 8 months. Hang in there. I see it as a practice for menopause hahaha

Ya know, that's probably the thing I am best at. Realizing how far I have already come. I try not to think about how far I have to go, but sometimes it is hard. You're right, the 280 will come. Glad to know that the hormones aren't just me. Practiciing for menapause makes me laugh! kiss Thanks for the boost!
