I thought heavy weights were supposed to lose faster

I'm two weeks and two days out from surgery. I've lost 20 pounds since surgery, but 15 of those were in the first week, and I only lost five pounds in the last week. Could it be the three week stall a week early? Am I going to be one of those people that the surgery doesn't work for?

My surgeon's plan progresses quickly, so I'm already eating solid food. I'm getting 60+ grams of protein, about 600 calories,  about 30 carbs and 70 oz of water a day. Am I doing something wrong? I'm not cleared for exercise yet, and I don't think I could possibly eat less than I'm eating, so I just don't know what to do. Any insights? I'm really concerned.

How much faster do you want to lose? Looks like you are already at the upper range to me.

I just feel like a lot of people starting at the higher end lose 40 pounds the first month. With this slow down in week two, it doesn't seem like I will make that. I know I should stop comparing, but I'm so afraid I'm doing something wrong.

I'm in the same boat, I stopped losing at the 2 week mark a few days ago. If you do a search on '2 week stall' on here, you'll see that may others have experienced this and it could last up to a couple of weeks before it breaks. It's a good time to check on your measurements if you took them pre-op, that may give you some encouragement. I'm putting the scale away for a little while as I'm giving it too much control over my moods. Keep following your plan, we'll get through this.

Thanks. I think I may need to do the same with regard to the scale. It's setting the tone for my day, and that's not a good thing. Good luck to you!

I lost 32 the first month, 18 the second, 11 the third, and since then I've had 15lb months to 10 pound months... Weight is weird. It ****** you off...but you are gonna have to manage it forever.

Keep on keep in' on! YOU CAN DO IT!

Your weight loss is not going to be a straight line.  It's going to be more like a cross section of stairs - big drop then a stall, big drop and a stall, slide down and level off.  Just stick to it.  I know it is hard not to compare your own progress with that of others, but your body, your metabolism, your diet, your exercise is different from mine and different from the next persons.  Just do the best you can do for you.

You seem right on track to me. I lost 29 my first month, 20 of which was the first week after surgery. Your body is going to go through fluctuations. Some weeks you'll get on the scale and see the same number for several days then BAM all of a sudden a 4 pound loss over night. Other weeks you'll consistently see the number go down a pound of a half a pound over the course of the week. And other weeks you won't see any loss at all, or even worse a gain, but you'll drop double the following week. It's all part of this journey. No two bodies are the same so don't compare your loss to others (that was the first thing I learned)

Seems your doing great so far!
