New and nervous!

I had my information session last week, and after some serious consideration, I've decided I want to proceed.  Does anyone know the next steps?  I don't have many supports in my day-to-day life, but I'm committed to making a change, including stepping out of my shy comfort zone to seek the help I need.  Any information would be greatly appreciated :)

HI Brand Nu,

I believe you are canadian and I know things are different for our northern friends.

For me, everything was dictated by my insurance BCBSIL. I was sleeved 3 months from the day of my information session. In that time, I had a number of consultations with a pulmonologist, psychologist, cardionlogist and then a few tests. After I was cleared I was scheduled and in and out of the hospital in 2 days.

It was fast and I am thankful.

We are looking forward to hearing more from you.

Good Luck!

Sharon

Can you share more information about yourself? What surgery are you considering? My highest weight was 339. In 2008 I had RNY and have lost and kept off 200 pounds. No regrets.

Do your research and do what is best for you!! Good luck!!

I'm 32 and my current weight is 361.  the heaviest I've ever been is 373.  I've tried countless diets that have all worked to some degree, but usually after a few weeks I get really hungry and experience bad headaches.  based on the information I've found so far, I'm leaning towards RNY as the best fit for me, but I'm trying to go into this with as much of an open mind as possible.  I come from a family that doesn't recognize obesity as a disease.  Even though I've been heavy all my life (100lbs at age six), I'm faced with negative voices from my family that tell me I'm taking the easy way out and I haven't tried hard enough to lose weight on my own.  I know if I don't do something soon, I'm going to be heading down a dark and permanent path, as walking is becoming increasingly difficult over the last year or so.

Welcome,

We'd need to know what program you are in to give you more specific answers, but the more habits you can start changing now- the better off you'll be down the road.

Best of luck to ya!

thank-you for the warm welcomes everyone! this is the first time I've been exposed to such an encouraging group of people with regards to weight issues and weight loss! I work nights at the moment, but I'm in the process of making lots of changes to better my life, so I hope to make it to the Scarborough group in the near future.  Thanks again!
