5 years out and still going!

5 years ago today, I was scared to death, but the thought of dying young and not seeing my daughter grow up was a lot scarier. I took a huge step and moved to save my own life by having a gastric bypass. I started at a cringeworthy 501 pounds. It's now 5 years and over 300 pounds lost, and even though I have had some complications along the way, I would do it all over again. I am NEVER going back to being the miserable person in this picture. It hasn't been all sunshine and roses, a smooth easy perfect journey. I am blessed to have people in my life that have been there for me every step of the way. I am going to learn from my before, and enjoy living my after.

Thank you so much for posting - I just got my surgery date and am excited nervous but was concerned because at 365 lbs, I'm much bigger than most of the other postings I have seen. It's so encouraging to see some positive long lasting results!

Lisa,

You are right where I was when i began this journey 12 months ago. You can do this and you will be a great success. It has been 10 months and I am physically fit, strong and on the road to being at goal.

The folks in this forum helped me immensely as i continue on that journey. You are in the right place.

Sharon

Wow Michelle,

You have had an amazing journey. I know nothing comes easy that is worth fighting for. This weight loss thing is definitely a battle and requires a fighting spirit, which you obviously have.

You look amazing.

Congrats,

Sharon
