Poke out my eyes please!

I have a pretty good relationship with my worker partner and she knows a lot about my life.  She does not, however, have a clue about what life is like at over 300 pounds.  On more than one occasion she has commented that I "know" what to do and if I put it into practice the weight would fall off.  She does not believe I need surgery.

I had accidently let slip that I'm not taking my insulin and I got a bit of a lecture yesterday so I made the decision to give her a glimpse of my current life.

In the morning I take diabetes meds, 2 different blood pressure meds, thyroid, 2 antidepressants and blood thinners for a total of 10 pills.  Sometime in the afternoon I should take a multi vit and D - another 7 pills.  Bed time is another 6 pills.  Add on to that insulin - an injection every time I put something in my mouth plus another shot before bed.

It hurts my head.  My family doc knows that I miss stuff constantly, much to Kim (coworker) shock.  I am unable to juggle it all without my head exploding.

I see the bariatric team in 3 weeks.  I'm still up 15 pounds from when I saw them last which was up 17 then (total 32).  I'm so afraid that I will be declined.  I know if I don't have surgery I will die.  I wish that other people would just get it!

Prayers would be much appreciated,

Kristin

you need help with your health thats for shore , losing weight will help with most of your problems

I think you need to talk to a nut  and a therapist about some more help losing weight , I have always been able to lose weight just not keep it off  so I don't know how to help that

do you see an endocrinologist about your diabetes, there might be a better way to treat you

most surgeons want you to lose weight before surgery, you could go to Mexico for surgery , some doctors there will operate on anyone

but I would not recommend it for you

you need a great surgeon  and great support with all you heath needs and many us doctors will not treat you if you go to Mexico

you need to figure out how to take you meds and tracking  you food so you can start losing some weight

I started at over 400 lbs and need to lose an other 30 lbs  before surgery

pm me if you need help with something or just want to bs

I also have diabetes , sleep apnea, assmia , so I have some idea what your going through

Hi Kristin,

I am so very surprised that your physician will not approve your surgery just based on the co-mobidities you have; ie, diabetes and hypertension.

I understand your fears. It is very hard to live in our bodies daily and carry this weight around, and then also have to put our hopes on what an insurance company decides or what a team of professionals decide in order to get the surgery we need. It is so wrong to have to jump thru hoops when it is so evident what we need to get back on the road to health.

I will continue to pray for you.

Hugs,

Sharon

Hang in there. Most folks don't "get it" - what it's like to live life as SMO. Hang in there.

I'd also recommend finding a therapist (I was really reluctant but finally put on my big girl panties and went - I didn't get to be 375 pounds because I was hungry LOL). Also, no stress. Deep breaths and do one thing at a time.

Thanks ladies. I do have a therapist, I see her bi-weekly and it helps. Some of you are aware that I lost 42 pound last spring eating protein and veggies but the nut said I *had* to eat carbs and I gained it back. The bread/rice/pasta I was told to reintroduce brought back the sugar monster. I had quit cold turkey back then and I'm struggling to find the motivation to do it again.

I feel your pain about the carbs.  I do much better, FEEL much better, with none than with "just a little".  For some of us, there can be no such thing as moderation.  Please don't give up on yourself.  Stick with this board and you'll see a lot of people who have had tremendous success.  I get inspiration from them every day.

I totally get it. I am currently on stage 2 diet (only 10 days post op). I eat about an ounce of jello once or twice a day. My dad made this stupid comment that if I just started eating like this before then I wouldn't be as fat as I am now. He said that to my face. I'm not sure which hurts more, to your face or behind your back. either one stings. I wanted to sucker punch him just cause I was so hurt but honestly, *****ally eats 1 oz of jello once or twice a day without surgery and can still feel full? the surgery is a tool that helps you eat less and makes you feel content. I told my dad to do what I do and see how long he lasts. Unless you're MO or SMO, you aren't going to understand the issues that MO and SMO''s go through. you could try an experiment with her to help her understand what you go through. give her your routine that you go through everyday and let her go through the motions. it's hard work to do what you do and I pray for your appointment coming up! May your approval already be in the mail! :)
