Is popcorn ok post op. My nut and dr don't say that anything is an absolute no (so far) but some choices are better than others. Just wondering if it can cause problems with my pouch. I have heard some people say it is a no no for them. Just curious as to what y'all think. As always thank you for your input and advice. You are all awesome.

I have eaten popcorn and haven't had any probs. I try to stay away from it because of the hi carb count. But as far as pouch probs; nope.

The only thing I cannot eat anymore; .pork chops and milk.  If I drink anymore than 2 o-3 oz of milk I barf. But i can eat Greek yogurt all day....weird! I bark if i eat a pork chop but I can eat ham and bacon...weird.

I wish I was one of those people that got sick from sweets but i dont.

hugs,

Sharon

I eat popcorn once in awhile. I limit myself, though, because of the carbs. But I have no trouble digesting it.

I fight badgers with spoons.

I'm not sure about RNY (might want to ask on that board), but I CAN eat it with my VSG. I used to eat it a few times per month with no ill effects, but now it seems to stall me so I don't. I'll have it again in maintenance. It's one of those foods that helps keep the snack monster away and doesn't trigger me. I do air pop with I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray to keep it as light as possible.

The first two questions always are: Which surgery, and how far post-op are you?

I had RNY - and I'm 14 months out. I can eat a little popcorn, I find it "crunches down" in terms of volume, but I'd try not t eat more than a cup popped.  It is pretty much all carbs, and unless it's air popped, there's a good deal of fat as well.

It would not be something I'd recommend in the first year.

I have notice I over eat with popcorn. It as the other poster said crunches down it does not bother me but I can it it without feeling full so it scares me.

I had R N Y I do  eat popcorn with no problems.   I use the 100 calorie bags because it is easy to over eat popcorn.

Thank you all for your replys. I did actually have a couple bites and it did not upset my pouch or anything. It was just soooo tempting while the family was eating it while watching movies. It stressed me out so I had a bite. I think I am going to have to work on self control.

I had VSG and I can eat popcorn but I tend to stay away from it because I can eat a whole bag and not feel any restriction. It's definitely a slider food.
