Hi,

Just wondering if anyone in this subsection was 60+ BMI going into pre-op?

Am I going to encounter problems and push back?

I am short and my poundage is high but I carry it well on my body and people have a hard time believing my scale number.

Anything I should know?

I just received my letter for orientation in February 2013 through St. Josephs.

I am from Toronto and my starting BMI was 59.3 so pretty close to 60!  I didn't encounter a single problem along the way and everything was smooth sailing for me!  I had surgery at Toronto Western Hospital.

My BMI was 57 (almost 60)..i went through St. Joe's hamilton.  I am very very short (not even 5'1) and didn't have any problems whatsoever.  I was approved for the VSG prior to surgery and am very happy that is the surgery i got!  I won't be 3 months until Nov. 28th but I feel fantastic and am amazed at how much energy I have already.

Good Luck on your journey and all the best to you!!

I had the devil's BMI...lol...66.6

when I went on my first visit at the surgeon's office (did not meet surgeon yet and was 9 months prior to surgery) the person I met, the assistant or nurse or receptionist...lol) did suggest that I lose weight, which I did, 100bs before surgery, but even if I haven't, it wouldn't have pushed me back.

wishing you an amazing journey,

Nathalie

My BMI was 73...I had plenty of pushback, but at 160lbs now, noone can deny it saved my life.  And I don't miss a damn thing, or feel deprived of ANYTHING.  This was so worth it.  Fight for your life.
