Tomorrow is a fresh start
Well, Tuesday is almost here! Tomorrow is the day I start trying in earnest to develop a healthy lifestyle. I have 2 protein shakes ready to zap with my new Magic Bullet and a bagful of healthy fruits and veggies to help me make it through the day. Supper may be an issue though. I promised my 8 year old I would make her whatever she wanted for supper on the night before school starts. She chose Spaghetti. I think I will get some whole wheat pasta and cook up some turkey sausages to go with it. I will also make up a tossed salad. I am hoping to stick mostly with the turkey sausage and the salad.
Just out of curiosity, what kind of protein shakes do you use?
Thank you again for all of your support. It is so nice to have found this board. You will be hearing more from me as I refind my way down the path to health and wellness!

I'm allergic to soy and have sensitivity to whey. So, I'm limited. The powdered ones make me gag too. LOL
The ONLY one I can stand is the Pure Protein ready-to-drink vanilla creme. I usually have a 35 gram can for breakfast these days following by a 4oz container of Breakstone Liv Active cottage cheese a couple of hours later.

Immediatley post op, I only drank Premier nutrition shakes - 160 cal, 30 g of protein, decent taste wise. They arent delicious but they are a far step up on some other ready to drink shakes (at least low carb ones lol).
Now - I use
1- Cellucor Super Sport Performance Whey - very high quality protein, great nutrition (130 cal, 30 g protein) and tastes phenomenal, mixes/blends well.
2 - Nectar sweet brands - double stuff cookie, vanilla bean, mint cookie, strawberry mousse.
3 - jay robb - strawberry and orange dreamsicle whey
4. Chike protein iced coffee - higher on the carbs, but a very good treat
5. My "i dont recommend this for weight loss phase" protein - muscle milk - chocolate and cake batter. My 17oz shakes are 320 cal, 16 g fat, 12g carbs, 32 g protein and beyond delicious. I just bought my first case today - ive nly had a handful since surgery, but they fit in my plan so, so that's what im using.

Hey Liz--
I use Labrada Lean Body RTDs----17 ozs., 260 cals, 40 protein and 8 carbs---a little high on the cals but it's my breakfast and AM snack. Tastes like melted ice cream.
I also have Syntrax Matrix powder---mint cookie and orange---140 or 110 cals, 23 protein and 3 (?) carbs I think. Got to add the cals for unsweetened almond milk to that. Plus the orange needs a little help--I use a squirt of MIO. May not order orange again.
Get the cheap protein stuff to make frozen yogurt shots, etc. You can get some OK stuff at WalMart or Target.
Sounds like you have a plan for the pasta dinner. That's what it takes--pre planning.
Good luck.
Edited to add---here's some protein shake recipes---there's another good list if you search this site but since my bookmarks are gone, I've lost the list.

Sounds like you have a plan, stick to it, and regardless track everything you eat- it will help!
As far as protein shakes, you can see my fav in my signature line, About Time.
Have you thought about having 6 small meals a day, as opposed to 3 big ones? I find that if I do that, and drink over 70oz of water, then I never get a chance to get hungry for junk.
