Hi, who are you?????
I'm Nikkal (a pseudonym - I'm cautious on the net) - female, married, 43, in Vancouver BC. No kids, no pets, no fussy houseplants, and my DH works nights, so I'm almost single *lol* (seriously, it works great for us!)
Accountant (former pharm tech and secretary), atheist, involved in my local skepticism/atheist/humanist movement. Outspoken critic of alt med, non-science based medicine and woo of all sorts :-)
currently waiting for first consult with surgeon for VSG, doing what I can to change eating habits and attitudes before I go 'under the knife'.
Rheumatoid arthritis sufferer for over 20 years which adds to my challenges!

Hi Friend!
Welcome to the best forum on OH (in my humble opinion)
I love my sleeve. I am so amazed at it's "magical powers". I am never hungry and I eat like a bird. The only thing I was worried about before the surgery was my possible inability to chug water. I can chug just like in the old days.
We are polar opposites. I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and I abhor science based medicine. I prefer my naturapath over my internist and use mostly natural solutions and alternative medicine whenever possible. I do not take any medications except a PPI and have never had an anti-biotic as an adult. Myself, my daughter and grandkids have never been immunized and I cure almost everything with essential oils and a lot of praying.
My daughter is an adult and the children that live with me now all have 4 paws.
You are going to love your sleeve. I love that you are outspoken. I hope you share your journey with us.
Best,
Sharon

Hi Doris,
Wow have you had a great journey. Congrats. I cannot wait to be in the 200's like you.
When I drove to Albuquerque I drove thru NW Texas. That was a wide state! What part of the state is Ganado in? I have heard Texas is like a small country and has lots of different parts.
I live in IL and it looks like a big flat corn field for 90% of the state. I live in the burbs near Chicago and it is a huge city with tons of different ethnic neighborhoods on giant gorgeous Lake Michigan.
Lovely meeting you.....

Yes good idea. Im Anna 30 y/o married with a 10 year old daughter. Nurse by profession, home schooling mom by being almost 400lbs :( Everything submitted to insurance and waiting on that call ! Im having a rny bypass (wanted the sleeve but insurance said no and beggers cant be choosers lol) hopefully by next month.
Hi Anna,
My grandbabies are home-schooled. I wish I could have done that with my daughter.
There are so many in this forum who have had the by-pass and love their results. Many of the nurses who took care of me after my surgery were by-passers and loved how their surgery gave them their lives back.
How exciting for you and your daughter. I was 30 when my daughter was 10 also. We grew up together. Your surgery will change both of your lives in so many great ways.
Best,
Sharon

Hi Sherrie,
I love reading your posts. You are a great inspiration for me. I am amazed at what you have accomplished in such a short itme.
Congrats on your new marriage. It sounds like you have a whole new life and it is very exciting. I am so happy for you.
I have never been to Seattle, but it is on my bucket-list. Before the sleeve I stopped flying when I hit 300#. Due to that, we started driving on our vacas and Seattle was just too far. Now that i am moving south on the scale we will start flying again. I cannot wait.
Thanks for sharing,
Best,
Sharon

Hello,
My name is Yoli. I was scheduled to have RNY last November, but I chickened out. Now, I'm here 30lbs heavier and try to lose weight on my pre-op diet. I hope to have surgery in October, if I can lose the weight in time. I'm 42 years-old (single) and I live in Oregon.

Hi Yoli,
What a cool name.
I, and many of us, have been where you are right now. I recall not having the where with all to have the surgery over many years. My mom used to beg me to have it. I wish I had listened to her. Every year I would diet and get fatter.
I remember last January sitting in the required pre-doctor visit class, wondering if i should do it. I recall all the negative thoughts I was having the entire time my surgeon was talking about how great the surgery could be for me. I believe it was the enemy trying to keep me fat. I used to have a plaque in my kitchen that said, "Lord help me, because the devil likes me fat". I recall coming home from work one day and taking that plaque and putting it in the trash outside, because i did not want that in my house anymore. At the time, I was reading a book on positive thinking and decided that day to stop talking negatively to myself about myself anymore. It was a turning point for me.
You have already lost 26 lbs. That is great. Good Luck on your journey.
Best,
Sharon
