Heading into week 4 post op
VSG on 07/20/12
Well I've made it to week 4 and I'm still going strong. No real loss of energy, I get in my fluids at least 80oz a day if not more. I got through pureed stage and now into mushies. I had canned chicken with a home made guacamole last night and it was wonderful but I ate 4 bites and was stuffed like a Thanksgiving Turkey. I should have stopped at bite 3. lol Oh well I will have more for tonight's dinner.
I started my new job which already has improved my health. I no longer dread going to work and I'm excited to really get my hands on the job position and make the changes that I see will be neccesary. Of course having a boss that fully backs you up and has your back against the piranahs helps. (Yes I love my boss!)
I'm taking in between 600-800 calories a day.
Breakfast and lunch are a protein shake
snacks are Baby Bel or string cheese.
Dinner has been pureed chicken but now I'm moving into non pureed chicken with some flavors added but no Mayo because I hate light mayo, I'd rather just not eat it.
I've taken my PPI but around 8:30-9am every morning I get this massive hunger pang or maybe acid. It feels like a hunger pang but I just ignore it and drink my water and in about 30 min it goes away. Not sure what causes this.
My primary care doc is leaving the state so next week I meet with a new one. I've asked for her to do my labs and provided the list of everything she will need to run.
Vitamins- Well I started on chewables but now that I can take normal pills I went back to my Rainbow Light prenatal vitamins. My doctor just said take Flintstones but I just don't see that they have enough so I'm taking 2 prenatals a day. I'm hoping that will be enough. Then I have Vitamin C and my Calcium and Potassium. I ended up having to up the Potassium because I was getting horrid leg cramps at night right across my shin. OUCH! I was spending an hour or more a night walking out the cramps and that was definitely not fun.
And yes exercise. I'm just not getting enough. I know I need to do more. I try to get in at least 2-3 15 minute walks a day while I'm at work and then I park at the far end of the park and ride so I have to walk more. Then I take the dog for his walk but I can't walk very fast because I'm really getting a lot of pain in my knee and my left foot from the microfractures. And of course I can't take my Aleve like I normally would. So I just drag along. I'm disappointed in my exercise but I'm not sure how to improve it at the moment. I plan on bringing up pain meds to the doc next week.
I also want to go back to the gym but until I get a regular check coming in that has to wait a few weeks. I'm behind on bills. boo
Other than that I'm doing well. I don't know if I've lost weight because the scale is in the closet til Monday. I didn't want to become obsessed so I'm only allowed to weight on Mondays. :-)

Hello there! You are doing greate! Quick and smooth recovery is what is the best for being able to go about life and before you know it all the excersizing will fall into there to. I still want to get together and walk or excersize. Evenings, or weekend... Will just have to plan it! Pain in the knees is a drag. But eventually as your weight goes down that will help in some. Talking to your doctor sounds like a good plan.
I understand the pain of the cramps. I have had the cramping to. Now it happens only several times a months instead of every night. I am not able to walk it out most of the time. I always try to walk it out, but after 30 minutes I take a mild muscle relaxer that my doctor prescribes to me. It is the only way to rid it. Otherwise It moves all over in miserable pain.
Best Wishes Always

You sound great.
Take the injury seriously. You want to become more mobile not less. 30-45 minutes is good. I was doing that for the first couple of months. -actually less in the first month. Eventually I worked up to 30-45 minutes of walking 3-4 days per week. I don't think it was until month 3 that I actually went back to the gym to do more. I've had serious problems with my feet and back. There were times that resting to heal resulted in better workouts later. So stay within your doctor's guidelines (the dr. treating you for your feet).
BTW, you can borrow exercise videos from many libraries. If your nearest library is part of a chain, then they can order one from another location for you. Even now, 50-70% of my workout is at home. For the first couple of months it was all at home or walking at a local track or in my neighborhood or another neighborhood with a trail.
And you will be amazed with the number of people who own stationary bikes that are used as hangers. Ask around. Maybe you can 'borrow' (don't offer to buy) one for a few weeks to give your feet some rest and exercise while home watching tv.
