hello new to the forum
Hello all I'm new to the forum.I'm approved for surgery.although I'm not sure which surgery is for me.I'm meeting my surgeon for the second time next week so I can discuss my options again he said for my bmi of 58 the rny would be beneficial but I'm interested in the sleeve I'm so confused. Im commited to a lifestyle change need advice please.this is not An easy decission
Welcome! I'd recommend reading though a lot of the recent posts on this board, and checking out both the RNY and VSG boards. If you havent researched the DS, I'd recommend looking at that as an option as well so you can make the best decision for you. I think the sleeve is great but im a little biased :)

Absolutely, welcome! We all have our own stories and journeys and you'll have your own as well. Good for you for doing your research and making an informed decision with your surgeon. I think far more important than your surgery type is the commitment aspect. You HAVE to be committed to following it through. The real work happens there. You got this.

Hello,
I am in the same place you are. My BMI is 59. I just had my endoscopy last Friday so all my pre-op testing is done. I have went back and forth on my decision, but as of yesterday I have made up my mind....I'm having the VSG. My ONLY reason for not preferring it is that I'm afraid I want lose all the weight I need to lose. I don't want to live with regrets so I will have the VSG and if I don't get to a normal Bmi I will probably have the last part of the DS done. My sister had the DS done 9 years ago and she has done very well.......she is 5'9 weighs 180 and eats what she wants. I could live with weighing 180 and eating whatever I want. Anyway, my surgeon does not perform the DS so if I don't get to a weight I want to be at I will have to find another surgeon who does do it. It feels good to finally make up my mind and put it out there what I am going to do. I've been going back and forth for over three months. Whatever decision you come to, I hope you feel totally comfortable with it.

It's not easy, but the others are right- do as much research as you can, and find the right surgery for your body. That whole measure twice, cut once thing really applies here!
