Panic averted

So I had a scare this past week which was stressing me out to no end. Basically I gave my employer notice of the time I was officially taking off for medical leave and 2 days later they pulled me into a conference with the managers and served me with a 60 days to improve or be fired notice. The brought up every mistake I had made for the past year and basically said I was not meeting the job reuirements for my position and if I made any more mistakes in the next 60 days they were going to fire me. And the reason they had brought all of my faults to me in written form was so that when they fired me I would be unable to collect unemployment because they ad reasonable cause.
So as you can imagine I was freaking out. I had saved all of this money, bought my plane ticket, set up care for my animals and now 3 weeks before surgery I get handed a do or die notice. Of course I had made some of the mistakes but others were done through improper training and no fault of my own. But they refused to include the facts of the mistakes that were not my fault. I had alsop been wotrking extra shifts so I had more money to live on after surgery since it's taking my whole savings and they yanked the extra shifts away from me as a way to punish me.
Since I figured they were going to replace me as they called in a bunch of interviewees I came to realize there was no way I could take time off for surgery because if I did then I would have no money to live off of once I came back if they decided to fire me. Which really, when you get a written warning like that it's basically a sign that you are on your way out no matter what.
So I did what anyone would do, I drowned my sorrow in some amaretto and then called every contact I had and said I NEED A NEW JOB ASAP!
Friday my old boss emailed me and said he has some spots coming up so I sent him my resume and Tuesday morning I got an email at 5am asking if I could come in that day for an interview. So yesterday at 2pm I had a "dentist appt" and went to my interview and before I left I was informed that I got the job.! YAY!
The best part is that they are going to let me have the time I need off for surgery so I can still go on July 19th and when I get back from recovering on Aug. 6th, I will just start my new job. While I'm on medical leave with my current company I'm going to call them and give them notice that I won't be returning.
So in a span of one week I''ve just about gone through the wringer but came out ok. Still on track and 2 weeks from surgery. Not sure how much more I can take lol.

Wow - what a horrible experience!!! I can't even imagine that kind of stress - but you know what, you handled that very very well.
There's a reason why I will never quit - because no matter how bad things will get - there's always going to be a point where it does get better. But if we quit, give up, and throw in the towel - it's guaranteed to get worse. There will be plenty more curve balls thrown at us - but you are totally prepared!! I absolutely love your determination!!
I can't wait for your surgery - im totally excited for you!

Definitely tempted to tell them to suck it. This company has been a thiorn in my butt for awhile now and I've been wanting to leave but thought I should \wait til after surgery. I guess the fates tiook things in hand and pushed me into leaving earlier. I'm very confident about the new job though so I can't wait to get through surgery. It will be a double bosus, starting a new life and a new job. :-)
Thanks for all the support and well wishes.
