Hi everyone!! I had surgery on June 8. I lost like 56 lbs in the two months before surgery. I'm doing really good. My hardest part is getting my protein in I'm only getting about 30g and I have difficultly getting my meds down and vitamins down. I'm walking about a mile and a half a day but I don't know if thatis good enough. In a few days I can start on purée foods. I don't want to define my worth by a number on the scale. Any advice, would be appricated! Thanks in advance, Andi

You are doing great!  You didn't mention water.  Dehydration is a big danger early on, so make sure you get that.  I didn't push exercise until one month out. Early on, I just walked when I felt like it.  Then I set weekly walking goals for months 2-4. I think I hit the gym after that.

I used the liquid vitamin, Vemma, for the first 6 months.  That made it very easy for me. You order online. Eventually, my surgeon starting selling it at cost so patients could just get it faster. It worked great for me. Any pill that wasn't tiny, I split with my pill cutter that I bought at Walgreens. I consulted with the pharmacist before cutting any pill.

Congrats and keep it up!

Glad to see you are doing well!

You definitely need to bump up your protein another 30 g at least per day. I used premier protein exclusively post op because i could get 30 g in an 11 oz shake that i would sip on for an hour or two. 2 of those and I got my protein for the day. I drank them for at least 3-4 months.

Now, I get this sports performance whey from GNC that is 130 cal and 30 g of protein and tastes really good with my almond milk/torani syrups.

I definitely wasnt walking more than a block at 2 weeks out so youre doing good, but dont rush the exericse until you are making sure that you are staying hydrated and getting the minimum protein in. Your heart and muscles need a certain amount of protein just to function every day and exercise is going to drain you pretty quick.

Get ready for the ride - it's an exciting time ahead of you :)    (and trust me, if you can stick to weighing once a week, you'll save yourself a lot of heart ache over stalls!)

Yes, fluid and protien!! Must must must must get more in! Suggestion above is great! EXCERSIZE is great but take it easy for the first few more weeks until you are able to fuel and energize yourself a bit more! There will be plenty of time to optimize yourself in perpetration for EXCERSIZE!! Eggface has a lot of good protien ideas to try. Look at different options that may work!! Talk with your baritric team! Great that you are feeling good!!

Keep on keeping!!

Hugs

Wow I think you are doing great already walking a mile and half.  I think it took me 2 months or more before I could walk that far.   Once you start puree it will be easier to get your protein in.  Just do the best you can,
