Hi all! I am almost done with all the nessacery appts and procedures I have to do in order to have the RNY. Next week I have to have a nuclear stress test and I was wondering if you have had to have one if your would share your experience with me. I'm nervous about doing this and I really don't understand what all they will do to me during this test! Thank you for any help. Andi

Its no big deal really -

I sat in a chair in a little lab. They hooked me up to normal EKG things - electrodes. Then, they inserted an IV, and put some chemicals in the IV - makes you hot, heart race, weird taste in your mouth. Basically, it makes your heart act similar to when you are exercising. I didn't feel too much - just weird for a minute or two and then it was done, and it was over. Took less than 5 minutes (well, prep work for the IV took a minute lol).

My experience was just like Allison's, except at some point I also walked on a treadmill.  My was not for preop, I had been experiencing chest pain.  Luckily, it ws not my heart. :-)     Its just one more hoop to jump through before surgery!!  :-)

What acbrown said, but then I had to wait about an hour, then lie on what is kind of like an MRI machine. I had to lie with my hands over my head while the machine slowly moved down my torso. It wasn't claustrophobic at all - it was open. But kind of unnatural position to lie in for almost 45 minutes or so.
