Your doing it because you had surgery on your body not your mind. You know what they say "you can't keep doing the same thing and expect different results" So it's up to you to figure out  what works best for you and stick to it. You may even want to try some therapy to help you get to the root of your problem.

There's always the bright side that you only ate 1/4 cup of the ice cream...cause, if it were me, Id have just eaten a whole quart of it.

I dont know if you live alone or with others, but if you have any control, don't keep the stuff around. I have an a rule about that stuff coming in my house or desk area - if it's not easily accessible, im less likely to eat it. I have indulged a few times (ok more than a few times) when stuff is brought into the office, or im out to eat or whatever, but it's a little easier to control my self when I dont have unlimited access. I am a BIG time boredom eater - and fortunately most days, there's nothing in my house that' sounds good enough to make me get up and go get some.

Dont be down on yourself.  You are in this for the long haul.  I agree that you should keep that stuff out of the house.  Sweets are a HUGE trigger food for me.  If I dont eat them, I can keep a fairly tight rein on my habits.   Yesterday I bought a pint of Ben and Jerry's frozen Greek Yogurt (raspberry and chocolate) thinking that it would be healthier for me and I could just snack on it. 200 cals 6 g protien per 1/2 cup, not a bad snack.  EXCEPT I ate the whole damn thing.  It took all day, but I managed it.  I was shocked when I got to the bottom....how did that happen???  But I know how it happened, one spoon full at a time.  Same way i got fat, one calorie, one day at a time.  I dont know about your family, but my husband is obese and my son who is 12 is overweight.  They dont need crap in the house either.  We baked a cake this week for my son to take to school and a large part of it came back home.  My husband actually said we should throw it out, because we would eat it and none of us needed the extra calories.   So, you are not alone, most of us struggle with it.  Moving past it is the key.  You ARE going to have days when you eat like crap.  When you do, offset it with some exercise. You are 10 weeks out and should be moving on a regular basis. You can overcome it and we are all here to help!!!!  Big Hugs and have a great weekend!!!

Well Sarah
You can be mad at yourself for a little bit---then get over it and move on. You just learned something about yourself......we all have the "head" issues to work on...more difficult than your eating or exercise plan.

My suggestions (in no particular order)---
---As others have said, keep the temptations out of the house.
---As there will certainly be more temptations in your future, make sure you have things that are healthy choices---SF jello, pudding, greek yogurt, beef jerky, protein pops, Popsicles, etc.
---Find a hobby or activity to keep you busy particularly in the evening---knitting, reading, crafts, whatever you like, look at some of these ideas http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2006/11/50-th ings-to-do-instead-of-snacking.html
---Work with these issues with your counselor
---Realize that allot of us are self saboteurs (sp?), we just have to jump in there and do the wrong things sometimes---sometimes we just can't allow ourselves to succeed. Another counselor issue!

You've been doing great--just get back on the wagon!!

I tend to do this same thing.  My therapist said you can't focus only on the bad.  Yes, you're going to endulge eveyr now and then, but make sure it's only every now and then!  Like someone said before me, you only ate 1/4 cup, if you're like me, pre-op you'd have eaten the whole carton, and it wouldn't have been sugar free!  Yesterday, a friend at work gave me a piece of Dove chocolate, and I said you know what, I'm going to eat it, and the little saying on the wrapper said something to the extent of "be happy with today".  I kind of took that as my karmic sign that it's ok, to eat 1 piece today and not beat myself up.  In fact,  I should give myself a little pat that I only ate 1 because physically, I probably could have eaten 3 or 4.

You have to let the little "slip ups" happen, but make sure they don't become habit.  That is when it will be bad.

:)  Good luck girl!
