bmi of 50.6 and considering surgery. what to ask my pcp

My bloodwork came back normal as far as cholesterol, blood glucose and my thyroid.  Doctor says I am insulin resistant which I suspected and put me on metformin today.  Without much in the way of comorbidities I am not sure wls surgery will be approved even with my high bmi but I am going to keep learning about it. I am feeling a little better since I've switched to a low carb diet.
