Not only did I see someone starting at our goal weight - they had the nerve to complain about loose skin.

Let's just say...my use of the block button has been in overdrive - I can't even stand it anymore.

And don't get me started on people getting sleeved who are in the low 200s or less or the recent post saying "did you have to GAIN to qualify for the surgery." WHAT THE FUCK!?

O M G I am glad I didn't see that post!! That is INSANE.  Get off your lazy ass and work out!  People don't realize just how HARD it is afterward.  That is by far the craziest thing I have seen today!

That's crazy.  I noticed that too.  I'm thinking at 185 lbs why did them put themselves through all that with the surgery?  Wouldn't Weigh****chers or Jenny Craig be easier?  Maybe they had some sort of health problem/s that they had to get the weight off fast.  Who knows.  But it just seems weird to me that anyone would do the risk of surgery when they only have 30 to 40 lbs to lose.

I started at 381, BMI 62 and I'm sleeved. Someone else here started at my weight and got sleeved 2 weeks before me and already lost over 110 pounds. I think she's shorter than me so her BMI might have been higher when she started.

Hey there,
I started with a high BMI. At my highest weight my BMI was around 74. I think it's around 50 now. There's lots of us folks out there but I agree..it's seems there's plenty of people alot smaller.

 Hi there...
My bmi was 61 when I first met with the surgeon.  My preop weight was 453 ad I lost 27 lbs on my preop diet....most of which was swelling and water weight.  My VSG surgery was exactly one month ago and I have lost over 30 lbs since then.  I know I am just beginning, but I am encouraged every day just by how I feel and seeing the others on here who have succeeded in losing a lot.

It has been a struggle for me to read posts from those that have the surgery so they can lose less than 100 lbs.  some need only to lose 60, and yes, one even had to GAIN weight to qualify for surgery.  This just astounds me and makes me wonder about the ethics of surgeons who will perform a life altering surgery like this on someone with a much smaller amount to lose.  Ive always considered WLS drastic, and a last resort kind of thing.  Maybe Im looking at that in the wrong way and others can shed some light on the motivation behind the decision.  I just know from my own experiences dieting that I would never consider at those lower weights.  I wish everyone the best on their journey, just confused about the necessity.

Regina.  Ready to live again.

My BMI started in the 70s.  I chose sleeve because I wanted the flexibility so to speak of the sleeve.  I didn't want the constant worry of if something might make me sick.  I didn't want to deal with the malabsorption of RNY either.  My husband started out with a high BMI as well.

I have documented my whole journey post op with a blog (in my signature).  If you want/need anything else please don't hesitate to ask me.  I will give you my e-mail if you would like.
