Please share your unexpected NSVs

I have a list of NSVs but yesterday I was surprised by one.  I went down the basement stairs normal! For a couple of years I've gone down the stairs sideways one step at a time.  My knees just hadn't been bendy enough to go down normal.  What's strange to me is a just walked down normal without even thinking about it.

What unexpected NSVs have you experienced?

I think it's the little things that happen when you least expect it---like your stairs.

You sit in your car and have to adjust the mirrors and bring down the tilted steering wheel because your body size has changed.

Walk into a room and not look at the chairs to see if they OK--you know you can sit in any of them.

Be confident enough not to have to check out a new "location" (restaurant, meeting room, etc) prior to the event----so you know you won't be embarrassed.

Just a few thoughts----you've got plenty to come!

I'm so looking forward to not having to check out the new location prior or having to arrive super early to ask for a table instead of a booth, get the seat on the end of the row so I can lessen my encroachment on someone else's space, etc.

Yesterday, I was able to change my shoes and put socks/shoes on while sitting in the driver seat of my car, with the door closed. I used to not even be able to see the floor with the seat pushed all the way back, let alone maneuver such a task. I can also pick things up if they fall - weird NSVs :)

I think the most unexpected NSV for me is my confidence and ability to be ok in social situations. I used to avoid them like the plague and I was almost always a wall flower, avoided eye contact with everyone, never ever talked to random guys, let alone flirt. Now, I'm totally out of control - I'll flirt with any cute guy just because I can. I never expected to be like this and my friends aren't real sure what to do with me, but i'll take it! I actually look people in the eye, talk to people, introduce myself in social settings, have a conversation - things ive never done before.

 Flirting - that's awesome.

I think my weight has effected my confidence more than I want to admit.

I was so excited the first time I dropped something on the floor of my truck and just reached down and grabbed it from between my feet and NEVER EVEN TOOK OFF THE SEATBELT!!!! Used to have to open the door and get out if I did that.

I have had a lot of the NSVs listed, and they all felt great.

My wife looked over my shoulder on this topic and suggested this NSV.

This weekend I hung a new storm door, finished trimming out a 16' by 14' addition to our deck that I built last year, repaired  her favorite chair, and re-organized the shelves in the pole barn.

I am now agile enough to get up and down from kneeling, crawl under the deck, and crawl out of an opening 16" inches wide.

I did a lot of DIY projects before WLS, but they took at least 5 times longer. I now have the endurance to work all day on my feet and much more agility and dexterity.

My wife says she can't the decide which is the best part of the new me, my new looks and health, or the projects that are getting done.

Today at my 6 th week follow up at surgeons office, they used a regular size blood pressure cuff instead of the large one ! This was a very unexpected happy, plus the 33 lbs I am down since my surgery and bmi at 47 was another wonderful stat that is moving in the right direction

I love reading these wonderful things I am looking forward to doing the stairs in a regular fashion, and having energy for lots of projects and fun

I bought a cheap swimsuit for my swimsuit project (FREE swimwear - just pay shipping - check my album) - a size 20 -- IT FITS!!!!!!!  I was amazed and thought that it would no way fit, I did a Snoopy Dance ;)

The other one, while I still had drains in my hips, I just stepped out of the shower & absent mindedly wrapped the towel around my hips to hold my drains up -- WHAT? WHAT! -- it FITS???

Little things mean SO much ;)

 some NSV's.... lol

my shoes are too big. :(  but so are my clothes lol.. i can sit with my legs crossed (indiant style) and i do it all the time with out my feet going numb, I can get in and out of my car. OMG my chair in my car now has to be pulled as far forward as it can go, because my stomach doesnt touch the steering wheel anymore and since my butt apparently got smaller i cant reach the pedals anymore, when i drive after my 6'1" boyfriend drives i literally fall into my seat when i drive after him cause there is so much space.

I can fit into booths at restaurants. i can bend over in the car with ease. my seatbelt finally fits!!

i love my results so far i cant wait til i lose more!
