I didn't expect

to be in so much pain.  I woke up in recovery dry heaving and being shoved into a sitting position.  I have never been so nauseous or in so much pain in my life.  I have had my gallbladder removed, an umbilical hernia repaired and a complete hysterectomy so I thought I knew what to expect.

Today has been better.  The pain and nausea seem to be under control.

I woke up dry heaving from my thyroidectomy years ago.  It was the pain killer that was causing it.  I'm glad today is better. Hang in there. You got this!

Today is better.  I went for a 20 min walk outside.  I am able to drink without any problems so I'm not dehydrated.  I think once I'm off the pain meds and not so fuzzy brained it will be much better.

My first day and a half were VERY bad. I was cursing this message board and I thought everyone lied. I was actually saying it out loud. I hated myself for having the surgery. It wasn't pain in my stomach it was more extreme nausea and a huge headache and I don't really know where the pain was coming from. It didn't go away until I stopped taking to morphine and switched to the lortab. After that it was like night and day. I hope you continue to feel better. I know some people don't feel good for some time but I'm hoping you feel 100% better today!

I feel you! The first time I woke up after the surgery it was the worse pain I've ever felt in my life. When I got into a room and seen my mom and sister I started balling and I was sobbing and I finally said what the eff have I done to myself. I had some complications and due to a whole shift of nurses negligence I got dehydrated while in the hospital and it caused me to have a high fever, really high heart rates, and really high blood pressure. I'm home now but I still feel pretty crappy and like you I'm still on the fence about whether this was the right choice...but I'm sure that's just the pain talking. Hope we both get to feeling better!

Things will get better for you! Hang in there. The start to my RNY WAS SUPER ROUGH.... But all things are different for everyone. You go in with the knowledge that it could be of good and not so good.... With the hopes to having the easiest. Results very. I never regret one bit of my decision after the initial 2 to 4 weeks. The beginning may be hard but the results usually out weigh those initial issues and are so very rewarding with outcomes. I had to think of where I may have been through or gone through if I had not have had the surgery.

Hugs and warm and tender wishes for you to feel better soon and realize this was not a mistake.

So sorry to hear you had a rough time at the start!  Glad you're up and walking now, though.  Hopefully, you're really on the mend now.

Wishing you smooth sailing from here on out!
