Hey Keith
Glad you came to this forum.

I know you had some questions and wanted some input from folks. So if you have any questions, feel free to post them here. Everyone is really helpful.

It's a good place to share your victories also. Welcome.

Thanks for contacting me. I exercise everyday. I have triangle on my bed so I do 300 stomach crunches, 300 - 400 arm exercises. My typical daily diet consists of breakfast - a english muffin with marg and sugarless jelly, a boiled egg, two small pork sausage patties, coffee with low sugar creamer; lunch - two oranges; dinner - two turkey burgers with cheese and no bread, two cups of veggies; Snack - various fruits and nuts. Once a week I have a ice cream sandwich. twice a week i have two small candy bars. no soda - I drink a minimum of 48 ozs of water per day.

I take a multiple vitamin and fish oil daily. In Mar 09 I weighed 616 lbs. That month I had the lap band surgery at the Wshington Hospital Center (WHC) and lost weight to 481 lbs over the course of 18 months. In Jan 2011 I had the gastric slieve operation. My weight now is 435 lbs. The doctors at the WHC indicated they could perform the knee replacement surgery at a weight under 400 lbs. I would like to get my weight down to 375 lbs for the surgery.

Tomorrow I will start drinking at minimum one protein shake a day, increase my overall protein intake and increase my intake of water from 48 to 64 ozs a day.  One day at a time.

I am struggling emotionally because I have plateaued. Lately it's been difficult. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Keith,
As someone considering WLS I think you (and most people in this group) are amazing and inspirational.  You have come so far!  Of course plateauing is hard and sucks but I have no doubt that you will get there!  Sherri made some great suggestions.  Have you tried changing up what you eat?  That has worked for me in the past.

Good luck!

Hi Keith,

I have read so many times on here that 80 oz of water helps push thru a plateau.

I already drink 80+ oz's per day and I find I rarely have hunger.

Great journey, Congrats, Sharon

Thanks Sharon - 80 ozs will be tough but I will give it a shot!  I appreciate your support.

Hello Keith, welcome to this forum!! This is/has been a great place to come..vent...ask questions...share the great...the wonderful...the not so great...and down right terriable. Love to here scale and non scale victories!

Sound like you have been on your journey and so have experience. You have done great. I am not familiar with all that you have been through...tried...and done. Are you working with your nutritionist? A physical therapist? Sounds like you have some issues with walking due to your knee possibly? Your doing excersizes in bed?

When hitting a plateau they can be very frustrating!! For sure!! Arggg...wondering if maybe changing your intake...types of foods could work for you. Maybe the times of the day you are working out? Can you stand or walk? I know nothing about you.. So even adding something that you do not normally do into your routine could make a difference. Keeping our bodies going...sometimes when our bodies get used to the same routine it is time to change it up a bit.

I hope you keep coming here, we are all here for common reason and that is weightloss. Wether Pre or Post Op. we really are a great forum.... At least I think so!!

Hugs,
Sherrie

Thanks Sherrie.  I am taking it one day at a time.  I am making some significant changes in my diet based on suggestions from people on Obesity Help.  I cannot stand because of the arthritis in my knees. I am now formally a member of this .Forum.

Hi, Keith ~

Just wanted to welcome you here.  I've found this particular board to be incredibly supportive; there are some really nice folks here, and I've learned a lot.  Haven't had surgery yet, but I'm going through all the tests.

I feel for you, being unable to walk because of your knees.  Must be frustrating for you in your efforts to lose weight.  I too have arthritis, although it isn't anywhere near as bad as yours.  I have lots of pain sometimes, though, and walking can be really hard.

I hope you're able to get past this plateau, and that you'll be able to get the rehab help you need with your knees.

Best wishes,

Beth
