Being sleeved on Monday....maybe?
So im scared to death that I had an abnormal EKG during my pre-op testing or that maybe my chest xray wasnt clear (i am having a time with my allergies and sinuses right now). When I had my EKG she put all the things on, took a reading and said "well lets move it around a little bit." She took another print out and moved again and then another print out and said "We will just use this one." Then about 45 minutes later as I was leaving another nurse stopped me as I passed by and asked if I had ever had an EKG done before...I replied "No is there something wrong?" She said "Well no but the ansthesiologist (spelling??) just likes to have one to compare it to." Does tihs mean it was abnormal? Its now thursday...am I gonna get a call today or tomorrow saying im not cleared for surger? Im so worried. Its been one thing after the other this whole process. I cant wait for it to be over just so I dont have to worry and stress about the surgery anymore. : /
Hang in here honey!! If there was or is an issue you would want to know. Nif there was or is I know they will go over that with you and you would most likely have been told by now. You will do great!!
Take DEEP BREATHES AND RELAX. WORRY IS NOT GOOD. UNTIL YOU ARE GIVEN A REASON FACTUALLY ....WORRY NOT!!
ANXIETY AS IT GETS CLOSER IS NORMAL BUT YOU WILL DO AND BE FINE AND BY NEXT WEEK YOU WILL BE SITTING ON THE POST OP SIDE OF THE LOSERS BENCH!!
TIME IS PRECIOUS BUT NOT ENDING. YOU WILL HAVE TIME FOR WHATEVER THE OUTCOME. FOR SURE FOR SURE!!
You are stunning now, keep smiling, hang in there, and know that we all care! Keep us informed and wishing you ease at this lengthy frustrating at times process we must go through to have our new tools in place!!
Hugs,
Sherrie

When I had my pre-op EKG, the nurse started flipping out, ran into the next room asking the other nurse if they should send me to the ER and all this crazy talk!! She made me lay on the table for 30 minutes so she could go find a doctor before they "released" me (i was in a little nurses' clinic lol). Talk about a freaking panic attack. She didnt say anything to me - just flipped out.
As it turned out, I did have a pretty serious heart condition (but had been a-symptomatic my entire life) but ultimately, after seeing a cardiologist, I had no problems being approved for surgery. I would say that you should be fine because really, if there is anything of concern, the anesthesiologist will just make sure he pays more attention while your'e under (thats what mine told me :-p).
One thing i've learned though is don't stress about the "what if's" - most of the time it turns out to be a wasted use of energy. Just deal with things as they come.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you though that everything goes smoothly.

Good Luck to you on Monday!!
I hope your surgery goes off without a hitch, and your in recovery before you know it. I can tell you from experience I was a bit of a worry wart and once it was all over I couldn't believe how much unnecessary stress I put onto myself...
Just take some deep breathes and remind yourself of why your having the surgery in the first place. It will be worth it in the end!!
I wish for you to have an uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery.
All the best and see you on the Loser's Bench!! :)
