No Bueno!
Yesterday was horrible! I decided to get a head start on my liquids so my plan is to replace breakfast and lunch with protein shakes and then just have a low-fat dinner. Yesterday I had two shakes and about 60oz of water. By 5pm my head was hurting so bad that I could hardly see and I was so weak and dizzy that I felt like I was going to faint every time I stood up. When I left work I got a sub from subway and went home and ate it almost as fast as I could. I didn’t feel hungry at all yesterday but I knew I was sick from not eating any carbs, sugar, etc. After eating I went to my bed to lay down to watch TV and my legs starting hurting something horrible! I accidently fell asleep and didn’t wake up till almost 3 hours later. When I did wake up I felt horrible...I still feel horrible this morning. What should I do? My saving grace was my subway yesterday but come Sunday I have to be on full liquids. I was all excited but now I’m just worried. I can’t feel that way every day and work. Any pointers or suggestions? Both would be greatly appreciated.
Your body will adjust and it wont be like that for very long. Most people say the worst is over after about 3-4 days.

Thanks guys! Today has been better so far. By this time yesterday my headache had already set in but im ok right now. My surgeon actually called and rescheduled my surgery date from the 4th to the 9th. At that moment I really wanted to be like to heck with this and get something to eat for lunch rather than my protein shake but i resisted and im very proud of myself for doing that! I definitely dont want to restart this whole process over again.
Everyone has had great advice - the only thing I could add is that for the first day or two while you adjust you could have an extra shake. It's still fewer calories. So for two days have 3 shakes and your meal and then on the third day take it down to just 2 shakes.
After the 4th day it's not hard at all. The only thing you really deal with is head hunger. Your mouth and brain want things and you have to talk yourself off the "mental ledge" so to speak.
Way to go on your good decisions. You'll make it and this will all be a distant memory for you.

My pre-op included several things that I knew would cause me problems. First, I had to get off the coffee, none allowed till 3 months post-op for the pouch to heal. I did not want to be recovering from surgery AND having caffeine withdrawal at the same time. Then I did meal and snack replacement 4 times a day and a low (not no) carb, low fat dinner. It was liquid breakfast, snack, lunch then snack, then my food for dinner. This really made the post-op a breeze for me, I didn't have any of the head cravings some of my friends had and the liquid and soft phases were pretty easy for me. This should also help with the blood sugar dropping in the middle of something important because it never does happen when you have the time to waste on it. This allowed me to get the the under 400 lbs surgical goal pretty easily and quickly without having the dizzy spells the entire time. That did happen the first week, its the bodies way of say WTF are you trying to do to me, get the pizza over here STAT!
