Hi guys,How is everyone doing? Well I'm on my pre-op diet and so far i have been doing really well as far as sticking to my two shakes and eating my meat with just veggies or a salad...I can't have no bread, rice, pasta, no junk and that's fine.I've been on a roll even walking up the stairs instead of taking the elevator to try and get some exercise in.I have my pre testing tomorrom and i weight myself at work low and behold i lost some more weight already.Even though i've been doing good,Today however i was so hungry,i've never felt that hungry before.I ended up eating a bagel with cream cheese and i feel bad that i did especially since i've been on such a roll,My question is when you did your pre op diet did you have something that you wasnt suppose too?

Well, I didn't have to do the pre op diet like you have---mine was just for a few days. It varies by surgeon.

But I can tell you to shake off the bad feelings and get right back on a roll! You ate it---it's gone! A better choice, if you had to have something,  would have been some protein (cheese sticks or even just the cream cheese, jerky, almonds, etc). Sometimes carbs trigger the desire for more carbs.  But you can get back with it now!

I'm sure you know that the pre op diet helps prep the liver for surgery---you want to be in the best shape possible.

Roll on---it's a small blip in time until your surgery date.  Good luck and keep us posted.

Thank you for responding Elaine,Yea i know that this is to help shrink my liver,You are right carbs does trigger other carbs,However after i ate the bagel ,i drank 32 oz of water.I'm having a really bad headache today but i just think thats because of the fact that ive been carb less for the pass few days....I'm not going to dwell on it tomorrow is going to be a better day....

I personally like to "plan" my cheat days/items so that I don't go off the deep end.

For example, I would plan all my meals out for the week and then know that on Sunday night I would let myself have 1 bag of popcorn (or whatever I was really craving). Then I'd eat it, not feel bad about it, and then go right back on my plan the next meal.

I always say, that's the great thing about food- even if you mess up- in a few hours you get a chance to redeem yourself and get right back on track.

Hang in there, this isn't easy, but it will be over soon!

Hello.... All of the advice given is so righ t on!

Having a plan.... And allow a meal to be a choice of that time (with in reason). Allows for a bit of spontaneous pleasure. (again... Keeping it with in a decent perimeter).

If there is a bumb in your eating.... Bump it back on track and move on. Devastion and giving up cannot be the option. Do not dwell on it.. As it may lead to giving up.

You can do this and are doing it!!
