Hey Everchanging!

Glad you found us!  Yup, we will be happy to chat with you & support you, no matter which surgery (not bashing any other forum), because we ALL know what it was like to start out with a high BMI.

I think you will be surprised in just a few months the changes you are in store for!  I started out a little heavier than you, and I am 15 months out, and already down 170 pounds.  It gets slower later out, but if I can do this, so can YOU!

I'll be thinking of you on the 13th!!!!  I get my first round of reconstructive surgery on the 29th -- so see, you have LOTS to look forward to in just a years time ;)

WELCOME!

My best advice would be to look at how your surgeon expects you to live after surgery, and began to make those changes now before surgery.

Such as, giving up soda, sweets, junk etc... Also adding in exercise, drinking 64+oz of water, and consciously eating all your meals. That means, sitting down to eat with as few distractions and really enjoying your food and making good choices.

I always say the great thing about food, is that even if you make a terrible choice for one meal- you get to make the "right" choice in a few hours when you eat again!

Good Luck and Keep coming back,

How wonderful on getting date for surgery. When you  have B.M.I over 50.  Your not have the surgery to look better.  Your having it to save your life. Sometimes you wonder what is a normal weight.  Will ever be a normal weight.   A 11 months  ago.  I weighed 390 pounds at my heaviest.Lost 40 pounds before surgery.  Surgery weight  350  Now I am 228 pounds and still losing. I lost 212 since surgery,   But all together  I have lost  162 pounds in 11 months. to me it is a mircle. I am able to do more things than I have ever dreamed of. I can actually run again. Now I can go places that involve walking  and actually have fun.   It is still a lot of hard work and is not easy at times.  But, It is the best thing that ever happened in my life.  Be prepared the first 4 months are the hardest. Emotionally and Both Phyically.  Nothing about this surgery is easy.  Remembering to take your vitamins. Find time to Exercising everyday when you just do not want to.  Sometimes even your family makes it harder than it should be. Wasting money on a plate of food that you can,t more than two bites of. Remember bag it and take it home. It does not  hurt to start taking your vitamins before surgery. Have then in your system.  I have lost 162 pounds since my surgery.   The best tip I can give is just be happy and surround your self with people who make you happy and love you for yourself.  Also get counseling and treatment for compulsive over-eating.  If can,t get couseling.  Then buy books online and start reading them. Learn about emotional hunger.   Also start setting small goals for your self.
