Back at home!!!
I had my procedure done on Wednesday. Everything went well and there were no complications. I did have a problem in the hospital and took in too much liquids. The nurse did not explain that I was suppose to use med cups for my liquids so I would not over consume. I was a hurtin unit all day long. Finally I did have a nurse help explain everything. I was discharged on Friday. I wish someone would have given me more info on these gas pains!!!! that has been going much better today. I have been limiting my pain meds until I really need them. This confuses me if the pain is from my incisions or from gas. I got outside today for a short walk and plan to do two tomorrow. Trying to get all my liquids, proteins, and vitamins in been sipping all day long. So all is going well besides the pain management. Any advice or pointers would be well received!!!
Well congrats on making it through surgery successfully---sounds like everything went very text book!
I don't know much about RNY but I can give you just 3 pointers-----
***Don't be a hero---take the pain meds as necessary, IMO
***Sip, sip , sip allot---stay well hydrated
***Walk frequently even if for short periods of time. It helps the gas pains---this too will pass---it must---literally!
Good luck and keep us posted.

Great news! Yes, do not over due your walks, but small ones are good more often. Slow. Sip..sip... Eventually chew... Chew... But again the word SLOW!
Keep pain meds as needed... Just so pain is in control before it gets to bad.
To bad your nurse did not explain that you need to use the med cups and slow and very little. My nutritionist went over that when I first considered surgery.
You will be a pro in no time at all.
You are on the post op losers bench!!
WELCOME!!
Hugs,
Sherrie
