So today begins my 9 day liquid pre-op diet.  I am not very excited and the two shakes I had earlier were horrible.  Of course they may have been more tolerable if someone in the office was nothaving pizza for their lunch.  The smell was marvelous.  I should be thankful I only have 9 days, I know some people have to do a longer period of time.  Keeping my focus on the ultimate goal!!!

Good luck with it! My two week pre-op "clear liquids only" diet starts next Friday. NOT looking foward to it AT ALL. I think we can do it....Eek!

I have been on the preop diet for 2 weeks, then all next week-so a total of a 3 week preop diet. The first week was the worst. I drink tons of hot tea w/splenda when I feel like I can't take it anymore. I also love these laughing cow cheeses, 35 calories and yet so yummy! It will get easier after about a week. Good luck!

How limited are you? Can you "shake-up" your shake ideas?

Have you tried: Blending with ice or frozen fruits? Using sugar free syrup or unsweetened coconut or almond milk (I love the chocolate one)? Adding in SF FF pudding powder?

Or a totally different shake altogether? I love my About Time Birthday Cake flavor!

Hang in there- this will fly by and soon you'll be waking up on the Loser's Bench.

Good Luck,

Thanks for the replies and ideas.  I know we all can make it through this!!!  I have purchased sf jello and pudding for mix ins.  Tried the jello last night did not really make the shake more appealing.  While on the shakes I can have yogurt or cottage cheese once a day.  Last night I had cottage cheese and it never tasted so good.  Nice difference to the sweetness of the shakes.  Good luck to everyone on upcoming surgeries or other goals!!!

Some suggestions: Greek yogurt - high in protein, and can be considered a liquid by your docs office.  Chike -- meal replacement -- fabulous flavors, 28 grams of protein, 190 calories.  Adding dry non-fat milk to boost the protein without too many calories (the almond milk idea is great, too!)  Using non fat, sugar free, dry pudding mix -- you can add a teaspoon or two, change the flavor & texture of the existing shakes you have.  I love Pistachio with chocolate!  Scoop of PB2, less calories than regular peanut butter -- or if you can pick up peanut flour -- flavor without fat & calories!

Usually it is hard in the beginning, but just realize they want to shrink your liver -- not to torture you!  I have been drinking meal replacement shakes for years -- I love Chike, it just taste great and makes sense when I figure out my nutritional numbers.
