i bought a dvd today - Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds. i figure maybe i can try this in my apartment and won't feel so silly as in front of people
i have to say, it's really had an effect on me - others perception of me - everytime i go to a store with my cousin, she remarks on the fact that i sweat when walking around... i'm very self conscious of it now : /
but maybe i can get past that

Which one did you buy? She has a whole lot and they are all kinda different. Since you're just beginning I would get one with the 1 mile and 2 mile walks and try to find one with the stretchy band (makes a big difference). Before I had the surgery I coouldn't really talk when I walked around and a lot of times when I was sitting still I still had a hard time talking without breathing hard if I got a little excited. It was very embarrasing. :( I really think that my walking on the treadmill and in the neighborhood has helped with it even though I have lost weight... I think it has more to do with the exercise.
Leslie has a toning dvd that i just ordered and you can but 1-3 pound free weights. I will tell you how it goes.
I also wanted to tell you that, before, when I first did her 1 mile walk, I couldn't get through it at all so if you can't, don't get discouraged just try it again the next day. Eventually I was able to do the 2 miles. I think I can do her videos more easily now because I've been walking a lot but if I started with her videos a few weeks ago I probably wouldn't be able to get through it the first day. I like her because she incorporates leg lifts and kicks and side steps and stuff and your legs really get a work out. You're going to have fun.
