I can comfortably cross my legs, I can shop at a normal store AND I am no longer over 50% body fat.  For the first time in a long time, I am living life and not worrying about how much I weigh and that is amazing. My world does not revolve around food.  I eat what I am supposed to and just keep moving.  And best of all, I am setting a great example for my son who is 12.   I absolutely can not wait to see what I am doing this time next year!!!

Kat, you are totally setting a wonderful example for your son! Isn't shopping in a normal store a trip? I'm still not used to it! LOL!

Things I can do now.

Fit comfortably behind the wheel of a car with an actual gap between my belly and the steering wheel.

Fasten a car seat belt without an extender. (I looking forward to flying without have to ask the flight attendant for an extender).

Run (a little).

Fly and airplane again. I am a private pilot who got to fat to pilot an aircraft. I just need a physical and a flight review and I can fly again.

Jump out of an airplane. I have never done this, but I am planning on doing it on my 60th birthday in a little over a year from now.

My wife's favorite; finish projects around the house. Before my surgery I didn't have the energy or mobility to do projects well. I would start OK, remember, most projects start with demolition (that part I was good at), but I would not finish. I am currently finishing the trim carpentry that I have not finished for two years after a living room and dinning room remodel.

My list could go on and on.

Great topic Danni.

Thanks Gary- that's an awesome list. I hope you get to pilot a plane again soon and I wanna hear all about you jumping out of one next year!!! A fellow WLS'r and I are going to do that this spring- I've had that one on the bucket list for quite some time.
Keep Running!

Hey, I'm with your ticker- you are 50lbs down, don't discount any weight lost- it all counts! You are doing great and Allison is right, you'll have a long list in no time. However, being able to envision the smaller you is huge! That's something that can take people years, so you're ahead of the curve!

Uhmmm I haven't lost much yet so things aren't that much different for me...

So far, I can walk 2 miles without stopping and without huffing and puffing. Granted, my miles are 30 minute miles but they are MY miles dammit!! And when I walked 1.25 miles with my mom the other day I remember that I was talking during the walk and it didn't kill me to walk and talk at the same time.

OMG I JUSTTT realized this... and now I'm a little bit emotional... I don't gasp for air when I try to talk. I remember sitting still and trying to talk for too long of a period and it still being difficult to breathe. Not always, but pretty frequently. Definitely after a 10 foot walk there's no way I could talk without breathing heavily. :( It was very embarrassing.

I ASK to go walking, and actually look forward to it sometimes... wtf?!

I DON'T want bread or fast food or really crave the bad foods in the grocery store. I can even sit and have meals with people while they eat that food and it doesn't kill me like I thought it would. That's not really a "can do" but it's something that shocks me and I never thought it would happen especially since EVERY meal I was eating was fast food for YEARS.

The major thing I can and DO do now is, have HOPE FOR THE FUTURE.
