Well i'm sitting here 3 1/2 weeks out from having my RNY and I'm down 20 pounds. I'm very excited but I want more. I'm excited to start back to the gym (just released from my doctor) I'm sure hitting the gym will help me alot.

But this is the first time I have seen anything in the 300's for a very long time! I started out at 405 and its great to see 385...

Welcome,

I think you will find this a very supportive group.

You are at the begining. Hit the gym and follow the eating program and you will be amazed at how quickly you will achieve your goals.

Great to have you as part of the group.

Remember,  When you start  hitting the gym for the first time to increase how much water you drink and You might need to increase your proteins after the first week.  So you have enough energy.  Watch for conspatation after you being exercising.

Welcome to the board, and congrats on your loss :~)

Start slow, b/c you will find you get very tired and, for me at least, it hits very suddenly & it's very extreme fatigue.  I'm definitely burning way more calories than I can take in at this point, so if you can take naps, I recommend them...I find on weeks when I get more sleep, I lose more weight.

I see you're in Pueblo...we'll be moving to Pueblo in 2 1/2 years when I finish my degree.  I love it out there, my family is in the Springs, Monument, and Pueblo West, so I get out there quite a bit.

Yay for being in the 300s...pretty soon you'll be posting that you're in the 200s!

Elementary education. My aunt is a teacher at Pueblo West and I really like the schools there.

And yes, we'll definitely get together! I love making new friends out there. We'll probably not get out there again until the spring.

Congrats on your loss so far. That's actually fantastic.   One piece of advice would be to set aside or at least consider your expectations as far as this process goes. There's no way to predict how fast or slow we will lose or how many stalls we might have, so just wake up every day and put your best effort in and dont put too much energy into the scale. Just a thought.

As for the gym - seems like you are ready to go! But take it slow bc you dont want to hurt yourself and you are still recovering from major trauma even if you dont feel it. I started out walking at 420 lbs and I could barely walk 5-10 minutes, let alone with any kind of speed. But, I kept at it, and kept going and now I can bike, spin, run, swim - anything I want actually. One thing that I have found has really helped keep me motivated is setting fitness related goals that I can accomplish if I work hard enough. I keep a written log o fmy work outs so I can go back and see my progress. When I feel down and im tired and feel like im not progressing, I look back at where I started, and I realize how far ive come.

I recommend posting to the exercise and fitness board too - it's one of the best boards on this site. Wonderful people there.
