Hello everyone.  I went in for my psych eval last week, not sure what to think of it though.  He didnt tell me if i "passed",  I tried calling his office today and they told me I have to wait to hear from my surgeons office on the results.  I'm kinda nervous, I feel so close to my date yet so far away.  Ive been working on getting this done for over a year now.  I was told this is the last thing i need before they submit to insurance.  Well I go into see my surgeon on Thursday, Wish me luck!!

That's lame! They should just tell you!

Just try and stay calm as hard as that is. Pretty soon, everything will seem like a whirl wind and time will fly by!

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

It is my understanding that mainly what they are looking for is that you are committed to the work you'll need to do to change your lifestyle, are serious about it, that you do not have unrealistic expectations, and otherwise don't have any other issues (e.g. that you're not suicidal, or if you're clinically depressed that you're being treated).

I've never heard of anyone "failing" this psych thing.  If anything they have been recommended continuing post-op psych therapy, but nothing to derail surgery.  As much as WLS is a tool to help us lose weight, there is definitely a mental aspect to all of this.  Old habits to break, new ones to learn, attitudes to adjust.

hey Matt, don't sweat it. I'm sure it will be fine.

I started out right about where you are at 480. You are in for a life changing journey, you just have to work it.

Stay on the board and let us know how it's going.

I do have a selfish motive. The ladies here are great and supportive, but we need more guys..
