Good morning!

I hope we can get more of you lurkers to participate - even if you dont want to participate in the weigh in, please post about your progress so we can all support each other! Or, if you weigh in on another day, feel free to add to this throughout the week.

High - 420 lbs
Last week - 251
This week - 249
Goal - 180

I had a great week (not from a food perspective). I participated in a triathlon and had the most amazing experience. Its hard for me to believe that I can do these things as a formerly 420 lbs couch potato, but I'm starting to wrap my head around it. And I broke the 250 lbs mark - i'm closer to  than 300 now!!! :)

Last week, I decided to buy some almond-thin crackers and peanut butter to snack on before my work outs, but that was a horrible decision. Im pretty sure I ate pretty close to half of a small tub of PB during the week - and not even before my workouts. I just snacked on them all day! It didnt cause too much damage because the crackers are pretty low cal - 16 crackers for 130 cal and I was good at measuring the PB (i usually ate the 16 through out the day with a little PB) BUT every time I went in my office, all I could think about was PB. So, I had to toss it out. Not ready for that. I may have to keep it at home where it's not just sitting around me.

I'll be celebrating my 6 mo surgiversary this week - I bought a road bike last week, so I plan on taking it out to some flat trails and hopefully ride about 20 miles on Saturday.

I keep forgetting to weight myself and do this, so thanks for posing!!

CONGRATS on getting below the 250 mark- hope it's smooth losing for ya!

So what kind of bike did you get?

Which distance are you going to do for the Napa tri? I may be thinking about trying it too, but it would be my first one...

Happy 6months out

I got a Fuji - dont recall the model off the top of my head. I thought it was super light until I rented a fancy bike in Palm Springs, but I still love it :)

As for Napa, I hope you do it! It would be awesome!  The HITS series was pretty well organized for the most part.  I'd like to do the sprint distance. That's going to be my goal. But at the very least I'm going to do the Open distance because it's free. But, the water is freaking cold there too, so I kind of want to do the sprint to make it worth putting on a wet suit.  Im pretty sure 5 months should be enough to get a handle on the swim and some confidence on the bike. I think you can sign up for the Open to basically guarantee you get a spot (registration is free) and then you have the option to upgrade to the Sprint up until a week before the race and just pay the reg fee then.

Can I send you a PM later about cycling stuff - i feel a little clueless about cycling stuff?

Fuji's make good Tri bikes- good choice!

Yeah, that's kinds how I feel- if I'm going to go through with all the wetsuit, transitions and what not...I want to at least do the sprint distance. The swim is the only daunting part, I'm a good pool swimmer, but I'll have to find somewhere to practice open water swimming.

You can totally PM me, I'd love to share my newly amassed bike knowledge with you!

Im actually glad I had never done an open water swim before the triathlon. Im pretty sure i would have stayed in my hotel if I knew how cold it was going to be!

Make sure you find 50 people to kick you and drag you down while you swim!

I dont know how far you are from Napa, or Sacramento, but im up there periodically if you ever want to take a practice swim together!

Yeah, I've heard it's kind of a scrum getting through the swim.

I would love to do open water swim practice with you. I'm kinda right in between those two places- San Jose.  Are you still way down south?

Hi!

Hoping to participate in this soon. I've been "trying" to order a scale to weigh myself for like two weeks now and the craziest stuff has happened.

I know when I went in October for my consult I was 420. But with all the emotional ups and downs since then I know I have not been that good and I am really struggling with my six month weight loss.

I go to the dr on Wednesday so if they have a scale that can handle me I'll report back. I haven't been able to exercise due to back pain which was messed up by my latest set back last week. So hoping to have stats to report and just monitor. Very frustrating.

Been trying to cut back on sugar carbs and add lean protein in the way of meal replacements and shakes etc. Gave up carbonated beverages, mostly. Gave up caffiene, mostly. Working to be better each day.

I want to start the FUN stuff like the exercise. Right now my mobility is not so good. But I lurk and silently cheer, and sometimes vocally cheer as many people's accomplishments as I can.

While you are in limbo, just do what you can. Our starting weights are the same so I know how miserable it can be - i had horrible back pain and really bad plantar fasciitis that made walking unbearbale.

I started walking 5-10 min at a time. My first whole mile took me 30 minutes. 18 months later (or around that) - i did a  little triathlon in the same time. So, just know you have to start small, but getting started is absolutely the hardest part.

Im excited for you  - cant wait for you to get a surgery date!
