Need advice from someone over a year out.

Can someone provide some insight??

My preop weight was 389, surgery weight was 354.  Today I weighed in at 218 (wearing a mises size 16).  I am happy about the weight loss but I am also concerned.  I am only 5'3" and have a ways to goal (my surgeon's goal is 171 for me).  I have only lost 6 lbs since August, and nothing for 2 months prior to that.  Is this normal?? I follow all the rules except one, I now drink coffee (it is decaf) everyday and I work out 3-4 times a week.  I want to lose the rest of this weight.

I know that the weight lose slows down, but I really thought I would be closer to goal.  I am so annoyed by this that I have been awoiding the boards as I got tired of hearing about people hitting wonderland just weeks after surgery (it is frustrating to me but I realize they are lightweights).
Do anyone have any advice on how to get the weight loss to kick up??

I totally feel your frustration! So many people start at my freaking goal weight.

Are you tracking your food religiously? I think that's the #1 component to weight loss. If you are, can you give an idea of what you are eating on a daily basis - calories/carbs/protein?

Great job with the exercise! Sometimes our bodies plateau when we get used to a normal workout routine. If you have been doing the same thing for a while, your body will become more efficient and ultimately burn less calories for the exact same workout. I recommend trying some interval training (google high intensify interval training). It will shock your body a bit. Also, are you doing any strength training? Over the long run, you want to build and/or maintain as much muscle mass as you can because it will affect yr overall metabolism.

Hope that helps.

I know that it's easier said than done, but try your hardest not to compare yourself to the lightweights. We only have the surgery in common with them, and our journey is going to be much longer.

If you are following the rules like you say (Hopefully you're tracking your food) then the weight will come off.

As far as amping up with losing- you aren't going to get big numbers a month anymore, but that doesn't mean you won't keep losing. Like she said, change up your routine because your body gets used to doing the same thing.

If you do machines, up the incline or do speed intervals. If you do weights make them heavier or lighter and do more sets. If you are walking, carry weights with you. Just make sure that whatever you are doing- you are breathing heavy and sweating a lot! LOL!

Good Luck
