Update on my surgery choice
As some of you may know I was rethinking my surgery choice. I was originally going to have the RNY January 09, 2012, but as time was approaching I was having second thoughts.
Now- please understand that I did extensive research on both surgeries prior to selecting the RNY and came down to a personal choice. Now, I have come to the conclussion that the VSG is going to be better option for me. There are several reasons why I want the sleeve initially, but here is one of my biggest reasons:
A lady I work with had gastric bypass almost 10 years ago. She lost a lot of weight but if I had to guess she is probably a size or two smaller than I am now. One day at lunch she mentioned that she wish she could have the RNY at the size she is at NOW. So that really got me to thinking....I know some people do not loose as much as the average statistics say they will. So if I get the sleeve and don't loose enough then I can always have the RNY but if Ido loose enough then YAE ME!!! I kind of like knowing that there is a Plan B if Plan A does not work out so well.
Thank you all for your support, encouraging words and answers to my questions.
Now I am waiting for my surgeon's office to tell me what is next.
You are all awesome people!

I'm glad you finally made a choice- and that it's one you feel confident at. Now are you working on those habits which will help you after surgery???

Weeks ago I was doing really good with chewing my food, eating slower and not drinking 30 minutes before and after. ...now I have fallen off the wagon.
What habits areyou refering to? In case I am over looking a few.

Well no time like the present to get back on the wagon!
Yes, those are some of them, esp. the no drinking with meals- that's a very important one.
Also things like, dropping all the baddies out of your diet: soda, pasta, rice, potatoes, sugar, white flour, fried food, greasy foods, alcohol, etc...
Plus, increasing the good things; lots of lean protein, non-starchy veggies and whole grains!
And of course, drinking all your fluids, making sure to get the minimum of 64 oz a day.
Good Luck

Thanks Danni--- I actually gave up soda about 6 weeks ago to get ready. Pasta I will be quiting cold turkey as well as rice allthough I had been cutting back. Not big on alcohol so that won't be a problem.
Thanks for tips.
I will work on getting in 64oz of fluids in today as well!
