Swam 420 miles as of today, 80 to go...

I have been keeping tally of my swimming, just so I can say to myself, "See, you CAN do this!"  I have been pretty good about swimming three miles a day, as I am trying very hard to make my goal of 500 miles before the end of the year.  Today, I only (ha ha) swam two miles, but you know what else I did?  I raked the leaves for an hour, swept & vacummed my home, and then started a bean soup for tomorrow.  I am getting my correspondence done, and going to support a friend with her new support group.

Not bad for just one day?!  Every action we do, we make ourselves healthier.  Do not be satisfied with the number on the scale or what is on the tag in  your jeans -- be active, and do it for the rest of your life!

To date, I have lost 160 pounds, struggling along, but staying positive even when the scale doesn't move - or moves in the wrong direction.  I still have a long way to go, but in the grand scheme of things, I still plan to live another five decades, so I have the time!

Tomorrow, try to add just one more activity to your day -- and you will be proud to say, "See what I just did?!"  Yup, it is a good feeling, not just sitting on the sofa, but being out & doing -- doing ANYTHING!

Stay positive!!!

Wow!  3 miles a day seems like so much to me right now...Saturday I swam a quarter mile, Monday a half, and Tuesday three quarters.  Today I had to take a day off, and was feeling guilty until I realized that I'll be vacuuming and straightening up so that counts for something!

I'm 6 weeks out and down 41 pounds...you are an inspiration!  Thank you!

It took me a LONG time to be able to swim 3 miles in two hours - I have been swimming at the Aquatic Center over two years now, and was at another pool almost a year before switching locations.  Today I swam 3.278 Miles -- 6000 meters!  I have only done this three times now, but when I am feeling able, I try to push myself.

As for swimming to Hawaii -- are you friggin crazy?!  Ha ha ha, yeah, in theory I want to be able to swim the milage, without the sharks!!!

As of today, 74 more miles to hit 500!!!  Like The Little Engine That Could... I think I can! I think I can! I think I can!

Seattle, WA to Crecent City, CA - 426 miles... Boise ID is only 406 miles from Seattle, WA... Prince George, BC Canada is a little further at 435 miles from Seattle, WA USA... So I am really going places now!!!

DUDE!

That was cruel, but funny!  Yeah, I figure in a couple of years, I will be able to have swam the equivalent -- or I'll just MOVE BACK to Maui, then I won't have to swim as far!!!

Brenda,

I am sorry

I did not mean to be cruel, I meant to be encouraging and express my confidence that you will reach your goals.

Upon re-reading I think the part that may have been cruel is the five decade remark. What I meant was to play off your original post about having about five decades of life and how I believe this is a lifetime commitment for all of us (diet and exercise). I did not mean it would take all of five decades, but now I see how that would be the reasonable conclusion from reading my post.

I would never be anything but supportive and encouraging to anybody on this board.

Again I apologize.

Gary.

P.S. if there is something that I am missing that may have also been cruel, please let me know, I can be pretty dense.

Gary!!!!!

Honey, snoo**** sweetheart, buddy -- we are all good!!!  The lack of inflection really blows when joking in type.  You are so NOT cruel, and trust me, if I thought I could swim down to Hawaii, I would probably risk the sharks - because I am so cheap I would save on my baggage fees & the flight costs!!!

Gary, you are fabulously supportive - in fact, I may call you Leggs - after the ladies pantyhose -- bad, yes, but kind of funny???

No offense was taken - I guess my lack of gafaws or LOL's led you astray on my response :)

HUGS!!!!!  Oh, and I did think of you today when I heard Wooly Bully over the PA at the Tacoma Dome!

What kills me is I can walk three miles in under an hour, how the world does it take two hours to swim that far????

I post these Non-Scale Victories to inspire -- trust me, I was NOT able to go this far just a MONTH ago!  It took me YEARS to be able to swim over three miles at a stretch.

Thanks and figure out what inspires YOU!!!
