Questions Questions Questions

I have several questions and will probably post this in one other forum.
I have the opportunity to either get the sleeve or the gastric bypass.
I have done a pros and cons list for both surgeries and they are even.

So here are some questions for some of you veterans out there:
- Would the sleeve be better for me since I already have some nutrient issues?
- What is the average ammount of excessive weight loss with the sleeve?
- what is the average ammount of excessive weight loss with the RNY?
- can I still dump with the sleeve?
- can the sleeve be a good option since I am still fairly young?

*How in the world did people make these difficult decisions for themselves...I am going bonkers here.
It's kind of like buying a car, I know I need one, but I can't choose between the Honda or the Toyota.

- Would the sleeve be better for me since I already have some nutrient issues? With VSG you will absorb more nutrients as you wouldn't have the malabsorbption of the RNY, but that also means you'll absorb all those calories too.
- What is the average amount of excessive weight loss with the sleeve? They appear to be the same.
- what is the average amount of excessive weight loss with the RNY? see above
- can I still dump with the sleeve? You could dump with any surgery, but it's not very likely that you would dump with VSG- however, with the RNY only about 30% dump.

I think bottom line, it's about a couple of things.

1) are you big volume eater (VSG) or do you eat the wrong things (RNY)?

2) Do you care about malabsorption (RNY) or not (VSG)?

3) Do you want to keep your pyloric valve (lets you drink w/ meals) (VSG) or not and possibly dump(RNY)?

4) Do you have acid reflux? Yes (RNY) No (VSG)

I'm no expert, but I have seen people be successful with both, it's just about which tool you want to work with. Good luck with your choice and don't forget about the DS!
