Recovery after open RNY?
Hi. I recently had open RnY. At the time of my surgery my measurements were 6'3" and 565 pounds. I also had concerns about recovery but I had no problems whatsoever. My op date was 08/29/2011. What my surgeon explained to me was that the stitch you up from inside and you heal quickly. I hope this helps but I didn't need any girdles or wraps. It sounds worse than it actually is in my experience.
I just wanted to pop in and wish you and your fiance smooth surgeries and speedy recoveries :)

I had a binder after having excess skin removed, it was very *****ly. I wore a cotton (thin like sheet material) nightgown UNDER the binder so I wouldn't go insane. I was in it for three months but didn't have one post RNY (I went lapro). I preferred a walmart braless girdle to the binder when I did need support though....when I was able to switch it a couple weeks post op. I wear a L and I bought a 2x so it would support but not be too tight. If the binder drives ya batsh*t try the Lane Bryant catalog, I think thy sell something similar. Get it big if ya do...they are hard to get on.
