Plastics Update..
Okay, good news/bad news kind of moment... The surgeon says I will be able to get surgery, at this weight, and yes it will help my back, but NOT with him at his current hospital.
What does this mean? He is getting a referral together for me to see another surgeon, and that he is sure I will be able to see this whole process through.
It was a difficult appointment to make, mainly because of my fear of rejection. I made the appointment, kept the appointment - and I will make MORE appointments. Face your fears when you can, and be positive, it makes the bumps in the journey easier to navigate!
I'll keep updating the process, so DON'T be afraid to get help even if you aren't at a goal weight, yet!

More positive news!
I checked my hospital's surgeon directory, and not only does my bariatric surgeon's nurse practitioner work hand & hand with the surgeon I am going to get the appointment with -- the surgeon SPECIALIZES in panniculectomies for severely obese patients - not just patients having lost "extreme weight".
Stay positive people!!! I will keep this forum updated on the progress, and maybe others can get what they need by following my journey! OH!! There are OTHERS *****ad this forum who have HELPED ME, so I am not a pioneer.

Did he tell you how much you might have removed?
That's awesome that you are going to get such a great surgeon to handle it - that definitely has to be comforting!
I hope the rest of the process goes smoothly for you - i cant wait to see what happens!

Well, I have the next date for consult - Nov 7. I am still not sure if I will get this sooner, but know it will happen, even if it is later!
My pannus is estimated at 30 pounds, but I also have to have a surgeon who will be able to do the most good in the fewest surgeris, so if they tell me to lose more, or whatever -- I am going to show I am a patient who will do what is asked of her.
There are folks on here who have already had theirs done, so if they don't mind pipping up, maybe they will share the weights of their removed fat mass!!!
Staying positive!!!

We ALL have a long journey, but knowing we have others to take the journey with - now that's what I feel lucky for!!! I will update this after I see the doc on November 7 - I figure IF I am LUCKY, maybe Spring??? I am not going to push too hard, because I would rather get it done ONCE, then have revisions.
Thanks!!!
