A Day Without Exercise...
Well, it actually was longer, but I wanted to post this, as I am surprised how my daily exercise really affects my daily life.
I swim 90 minutes five days a week, and walk & do other exercises the other two, so missing my daily routine has left me in astounding pain. For those out there like me, in chronic pain 24/7, I decided that swimming is the best exercise for me (buoyancy is so kind!).
My last swim was on May 5, and I have been forced to take pain meds four times, and am limping like a character from an old television Western! If anyone would have told me that it was the exercise not my losing over a hundred pounds that was making my life more physically bearable, I would have argued with them. Well, it is the exercise AND the hundred plus pounds, so when I wasn't getting my usual dose of necessary movement - I paid dearly!
For all of us over 50BMI, try some sort of exercise, it has made my so much happier and in so much less pain. Sure, it is hard at first, but start off slow & work from there. We all have great excuses why we cannot exercise, but when you get right down to it, I should have found something else to do while I was away.

I understand what you mean! I started walking the dog twice a day and now I feel so bad when I don't.
I really need to find a good place to swim here in the Twin Cities. I want too, but of course I'm completely self conscious about how I would look in a bathing suit. I'm working up the nerve to do it. But, for now I'll stick with my little walks around the block. Even those walks give me some pains, but the more I do it the less and less it hurts.
My goal is to buy a bike and bike around these gorgeous lakes!!

Hey Erica!
Go to my profile & look through my photos. I am sure 474 was NOT the weight in that photo - higher than 474! That photo was taken on a public beach - and yes, I started swimming laps at 474 pounds, in public. Yes, it takes a lot of strength to go out in public so "stripped down," but consider the alternative -- NOT swimming, which will make you feel FANTASTIC!
Swimming is the easiest exercise on those of us of "maximum density," think about the buoyancy factor! You don't have to swim without resting, if you are tired, you can tread water.
YES! I feel guilty if I don't do my exercise, too. Tomorrow, the pool I swim at is having a closed session, so no swim for me. I haven't decided what I will do, but I will be doing something!

I have no business responding here, since I have not exercised a day in my life, but I do love the water! Just last summer I got the courage to wear a swimsuit to a water park for the first time in my life. Now you can hardly keep me away! It is so much fun. And, looking around at the other guests, I wasted 36 years of my life missing out. People are too concerned with how THEY look than to think about how someone else looks. Try it and have fun!

You have EVERY right to post about anything to do with courage, exercise, or just helping others become more motivated!!! Some days it is very hard for me to pull on my suit & face the lane! Today was busy at the Aquatic Center, so I had to share my lane two different times. Drove me wonky trying NOT to get lapped by the other two swimmers, but I did beat them both when you factored in my endurance!!!
Brenda - who happens to be the largest swimmer at the Aquatic Center, but not letting that be an excuse NOT to swim!!!
